Chapter 503 - Chapter 503: Task at the Foot of the Mountain

What did this mean?

It meant that the peachwood sword was highly durable and could undergo multiple rounds of advanced refinement.

Not to mention the monthly allocation of spirit stones and medicinal pills. If one had spare time, they could take on extra jobs within the sect for additional pay, or, in case of need, collect tasks from the Miscellaneous Hall.

This sect was incredibly powerful!

As far as Yuan Jinsheng could tell, with his limited knowledge of the mortal world, no other sect could compare to Lingxian Sect's immense resources and foundation.

With his Golden Core fully restored and his son successfully breaking through, Yuan Jinsheng was in high spirits. He stepped out of his room, heading toward the Miscellaneous Hall to pick up some tasks.

Recently, Shuishui Village, located at the foot of the mountain, had been under construction, and many tasks had been issued by the Miscellaneous Hall. The disciples of Qingyun Peak would often take on tasks during their free time.

The Qingyun Peak disciples enjoyed taking on these tasks, not only because they could earn extra spirit stones, but also because it allowed them to leave the mountain.

Although the sect didn't completely restrict them from leaving, it did require them to submit a request before descending, which could be somewhat inconvenient. However, none of the disciples had any complaints about this.

Elder Liu had thoroughly explained the reason for this restriction: since their cultivation levels were still relatively low, the sect was concerned about their safety. By submitting a request, the sect would be aware of their whereabouts and could assist them in case of emergencies.

The application process also served as a reminder to the disciples that leaving the sect unnecessarily wasn't encouraged, which helped reduce the administrative burden on the sect.

After all, the sect had limited personnel available to manage the disciples' movements.

However, staying in one place for too long could make anyone feel restless, even in a picturesque place like Lingxian Sect.

So, while they were only heading down to Shuishui Village, the change of scenery was a welcome reprieve.

Moreover, the villagers were incredibly hospitable. Each time the disciples completed their tasks, the villagers would warmly welcome them. This sense of accomplishment was deeply gratifying, making the Qingyun Peak disciples quite eager to take on these construction tasks in Shuishui Village.

Upon arriving at the Miscellaneous Hall, Yuan Jinsheng examined the task board for available assignments. After browsing, he selected a relatively challenging task: using the Object Manipulation Technique to stack bricks and build walls.

The task wasn't particularly technical—most of the construction tasks in Shuishui Village involved basic spells and formations.

However, this task was energy-intensive.

For most of the Qingyun Peak disciples, who were at the Qi Refinement stage, controlling one or two objects with the Object Manipulation Technique wasn't difficult. The challenge was controlling multiple bricks at once, precisely stacking them in the correct position, and repeating the spell multiple times.

After a few rounds, their dantian would be completely drained.

Thus, this task was considered one of the more difficult ones for the Qingyun Peak disciples.

Yuan Jinsheng was fully aware of this and intentionally chose this challenging task.

He wasn't the only one—Liang Zhonghuai had also chosen this task.

After all, they were the only two Qingyun Peak disciples who had reached the Foundation Establishment stage before joining the sect.

Of course, it wasn't just the two of them tackling these more difficult tasks. Other disciples would team up to complete them together.

Elder Liu Yunan was pleased to see this. He had discussed the matter privately with Qin Jianghe and Sun Yigao, believing that by having the Qingyun Peak disciples work and live together, their cooperation on tasks would foster camaraderie and teamwork.

After accepting his task, Yuan Jinsheng's identity token was updated with permission to leave the sect. He fastened the token to his waist and made his way down the mountain.

The restriction placed at the entrance of Wenxin Road detected his identity token and automatically allowed him to pass.

As Yuan Jinsheng passed Wenxin Road, he noticed a young man standing there with his eyes closed and his brows furrowed, clearly undergoing the trial of Wenxin Road.

He found it odd.

The elders had mentioned that after their batch of disciples had completed the trial, Wenxin Road would be closed, and outsiders wouldn't be able to enter.

Moreover, once a sect member passed the trial, they didn't need to take it again unless their mindset had changed drastically.

So who was this person...?

Could he have forcefully broken through the barrier to enter and been stopped by Wenxin Road?

That seemed unlikely. If that were the case, the elders would have already been alerted to the breach.

Perhaps the sect had allowed him to take the trial separately.

Unable to figure it out, Yuan Jinsheng decided not to dwell on it. As he walked toward the construction site in Shuishui Village, he sent a message via transmission talisman to Elder Liu Yunan, explaining the situation.

He chose to use a transmission talisman instead of his Locking Ring, not because he had forgotten about the ring or didn't know how to use its communication function, but because Elder Liu was incredibly busy.

His Locking Ring was just as busy.

Nine times out of ten, when someone tried to contact him, he was already in communication with someone else.

So, for non-urgent matters, it was often more convenient to use a transmission talisman.

After sending the message, Yuan Jinsheng quickly arrived at his assigned task location.

By noon, the construction site was bustling with activity.

A group of strong young men from Shuishui Village and nearby areas were hard at work, sweating profusely despite the winter cold. Their jackets were tossed aside in a pile under a grass hut nearby.

The task of laying bricks and mortar was dusty, and several disciples from Lingxian Sect were helping with spells. Many onlookers stood at a distance, watching curiously but not daring to come too close.

Most of the onlookers were scholars and artists, composing poems or painting to document the scene.

Yuan Jinsheng quickly spotted Du Changsheng, the son of the village chief, overseeing the project.

He walked over to greet him, "Changsheng, I've taken on a brick-laying task. Can you show me where to start?"

Seeing Yuan Jinsheng approach, Du Changsheng beamed and warmly greeted him, "Senior Yuan! You're here for brick-laying again? Perfect timing—the southern section just started today. I'll take you over there."

Since the construction of Shuishui Village began, Yuan Jinsheng had frequently come down to help with tasks. Over time, he and Du Changsheng had become familiar with each other.

At first, Du Changsheng had addressed Yuan Jinsheng as "Immortal," but Yuan Jinsheng had learned from the elders that Shuishui Village was the ancestral land of the sect's leaders and elders, so he made sure to treat the villagers with kindness.
