——What happened?
Hearing this question again, Wade also wanted to ask: Is there something on my face?
Why does everyone who sees me ask the same thing?
Instinctively, he reached up and touched his face again, but he didn't find any wounds or blood.
Then he looked down at himself—his clothes were intact. Aside from being a bit wrinkled from the rain, everything else seemed fine, just like usual.
"We'll talk about it later."
Before Wade could explain, Madam Pomfrey, who was barely containing her anger, said coldly, "I also had my Patronus notify the other Heads of House."
As she spoke, she paced around the room, trying to vent the fury and frustration bottled up inside her.
She had completely forgotten that there was still a patient in the room.
Wade turned his head and, by chance, saw a head peeking out from behind a bed curtain—like a hamster cautiously sticking its head out of its burrow.
It was Astoria, Daphne's younger sister.
Wade vaguely remembered that in the future, she would marry Draco Malfoy.
Their eyes met. The girl was startled and hastily put a finger to her lips, making exaggerated facial expressions, pleading with him not to expose her.
Wade shifted his gaze away, and pretended not to see anything.
This hospital wing could hold more than a dozen beds. From such a distance, Astoria probably wouldn't hear much of their conversation.
Even if she did, knowing the dangers of the world and becoming more cautious in the future might not be a bad thing.
While they waited for the others to arrive, Professor Snape had already begun running through the list of troublemakers in his house.
Seeing Madam Pomfrey and Wade, and thinking about the precious potions he was about to part with, Snape instinctively recalled the recent attack orchestrated by Draco Malfoy.
Well, Malfoy is still up in the air fighting Potter for the Golden Snitch.
Thank Merlin—it's not those two who caused trouble this time.
As for the others…
Flint, Warrington, and Montague are all still playing in the match.
Imanuel was in the stands, Oswald was sitting beside him… Trey—was he missing? Crabbe had been acting restless lately, but he wouldn't have the guts to do anything major…
Snape thought through every possibility but still couldn't figure it out.
Without a word, the Head of Slytherin moved to Wade's side and crossed his arms. His long robes spread slightly as he leaned in ever so slightly—without looking at Wade, but making it clear he was listening.
Wade: "..."
— Even you're afraid of Madam Pomfrey. Do you think I'm not?
After a moment of silence, he covered his mouth with his hand and whispered, "It's not Slytherin. It's related to the missing underage wizards."
Snape's eyes flickered slightly, but after glancing at Madam Pomfrey's expression, his face darkened again.
Before long, Professors McGonagall, Flitwick, and Sprout hurried in, looking puzzled.
"Poppy, the match isn't over yet. Why did you call us so urgently?" Professor McGonagall asked.
She is a dedicated Quidditch fan, and today's game was between Gryffindor and their long-time rival, Slytherin. If it hadn't been for Madam Pomfrey's urgent summons, she wouldn't have left the match for anything.
Now, all four Heads of House turned to look at Madam Pomfrey.
But she simply nodded at Wade.
"It's like this…"
Wade had no choice but to repeat his previous explanation.
Due to time constraints, he made it even more concise this time—but fortunately, everyone understood immediately.
After hearing his account, the professors were just as furious as Madam Pomfrey.
"I'm coming with you." Snape said curtly, letting out a cold snort. "I'd like to see just how powerful these Muggles think they are, treating wizards as experimental subjects."
"Don't forget, according to Wade, most of the victims were actually Muggles." Professor Flitwick sighed and drew his wand. "I'm coming too."
"I'll join as well." Professor Sprout's eyes glistened with tears. She was both furious and heartbroken. Seeing that Professor McGonagall was about to speak, she quickly added, "Oh, Minerva, don't argue with me about this—someone has to stay at the school."
As Deputy Headmistress, McGonagall had more responsibilities than the others.
With a hint of regret, she sighed and nodded. "I'll send word to the Ministry of Magic and Scrimgeour immediately. They may also need to coordinate with the Muggle government to help those children."
She is a rational and fair-minded person. She understood how vast the Muggle population is, and that even though some had committed horrific crimes, it didn't mean all Muggles should bear the blame.
Then, McGonagall waved her wand. Within seconds, four well-maintained broomsticks soared in through the narrow window.
"These are from my personal collection. They're fast and very stable." She handed them to the professors. "Take them—you'll need them."
The others also summoned items they might require. Besides Snape, who brought out a small case, the other professors retrieved snakeskin pouches.
It was clear that every Hogwarts professor had a bottomless treasure chest of magical supplies, though they rarely revealed them, as they needed to set an example for their students.
Wade hesitated for a moment. Students who applied for all elective courses received a Time-Turner—this wasn't exactly a secret among the professors.
The only person he wasn't sure about was Madam Pomfrey. But given her attitude earlier, she probably knew as well.
Turning his back to the hospital bed, Wade pulled the Time-Turner out from under his robes, gave it a slight shake, and asked, "Professors, Madam Pomfrey… you all know about this, right?"
"Of course, child," Professor Flitwick replied.
Wade then quietly explained the reason he had returned to the school—
"In about half an hour, a child who has endured extreme suffering and abuse will trigger an Obscurus and wreak havoc on the island. I actually came back because of her."
"An Obscurus…"
The professors, who had already been furious, now showed even deeper concern.
"That poor child…" Professor Flitwick murmured.
"Since you already know it will happen, you won't be able to change it." Professor Snape said coldly.
"I know. What I want to do is save another child—one whose organs were taken. She was very close to the Obscurial. If she survives, she might be able to calm her down."
Wade continued, "Besides, I think the professors need to know exactly what they'll be facing once they reach that island."
For a moment, no one spoke, each lost in their own thoughts.
"Time is almost up."
Wade had set a magical reminder for himself. He took out the golden key and held it in his palm. The professors gathered in a circle and each placed a finger on the key.
"If there's a disagreement, follow Severus' lead." Professor McGonagall said solemnly before they left. "In battle, the worst thing is when everyone acts on their own ideas."
"Understood!"
Even those who weren't particularly fond of Snape responded without hesitation.
The Heads of Slytherin and Gryffindor exchanged a glance, silently conveying responsibility and trust.
Snape gave a slight nod, then focused his gaze on the key, his expression dark and unreadable.
"Five… four… three…" Wade softly counted down. "Two…"
He shifted his gaze and noticed Professor McGonagall unconsciously clasping her hands together, her index and middle fingers crossed—a gesture of prayer.
"One!"
The strange pulling sensation returned as Wade's hand was tightly bound to the key.
During the flight, he kept bumping into Professor Flitwick, and then into Snape.
But their forms were invisible—only streaks of fluid, dizzying light surrounded them.
Wade couldn't help but close his eyes.
Suddenly, they landed heavily on the rocky shore, the salty sea breeze rushing toward them.
Professor Sprout had landed dangerously close to the edge and almost slipped off the rock, but Professor Snape quickly reached out and caught her.
"Thank you, Severus," Professor Sprout said.
"Strange… what is that?" Madam Pomfrey pointed ahead.
Wade instinctively lowered his head, expecting to see a bloated face soaked in seawater. But when he found nothing, he realized Madam Pomfrey was actually referring to a massive pipe embedded in the cliffside—one thicker than a person's thigh.
At that moment, scalding water was being discharged from it. It was splashing into the sea below with a loud rush, sending steam billowing into the air.
"This looks like… coolant water?"
Wade was momentarily stunned. He waved his wand, checked the time again, and suddenly understood—so that is why Dumbledore gave me exactly twenty minutes.
They had arrived on the island just after the strong magnetic field had dissipated.
If they had arrived any earlier, they would have been caught in the intense magnetic interference, and worse, the Portkey's landing point might have been thrown off, sending them dozens of miles into the ocean.
Wade took a deep breath, realizing his oversight and silently taking this lesson to heart. Then, he quickly briefed the professors on the island's layout and the location of the research facility.
"Alright, let's move." Professor Sprout said. "If anything happens—"
"Adapt as needed!" Professor Flitwick twirled his wand skillfully and added, "Let's get Madam Pomfrey and Wade to their destination first."
"Don't treat me like a delicate little girl!" Madam Pomfrey declared as she gripped her wand and carried her medical case with an imposing presence. "I can take care of myself!"
"Disillusionment first."
Professor Snape instructed. He was just about to cast the spell on Wade when he saw Wade tap his own head with his wand. His body began to fade from the top down.
"Good spellwork." The Potions Master muttered, "Looks like Dumbledore really has taught you quite a bit."
There was a hint of jealousy in his tone.
Wade wisely chose not to correct him—it was actually Lupin who had taught me the Disillusionment Charm.
Once everyone had become invisible, they mounted their brooms and took off. As Wade soared upward, he instinctively glanced down.
Amidst the distant rocks, a pale hand was faintly visible, wedged between the stones.
He averted his gaze and moved to the front—his broom was the fastest, and he needed to lead the way.
However, the four professors subtly positioned themselves around him, forming a protective formation.
"Don't fly so fast, Wade." Professor Sprout called from behind. "Remember, the island still has enemies!"
So Wade slightly slowed his speed, and the group whooshed through the air above the island.
At the moment, none of them could actually see each other, as their broomsticks had also been rendered invisible. However, magic still allowed them to sense each other's positions.
Boom—Boom—Boom—
Massive machines shot into the sky, and it crashed and exploded with fires breaking out in several places.
Hundreds of fully armed soldiers rushed out of the building, while others, carrying long-barreled rifles, sprinted upstairs.
"Sniper rifles!"
The well-informed Professor Flitwick immediately shouted, "Those weapons have an extremely long range—even Dumbledore could be injured by them!"
"Pomona, Filius, take care of them!" Snape ordered loudly.
The two professors immediately veered their broomsticks downward and dove toward their targets.
Professor Flitwick soared toward the snipers, while Professor Sprout flew even lower.
The soldiers on the ground heard a strange whistling sound above them and looked up in confusion—only to see a shimmering cloud of dust descending from the sky, glimmering beautifully in the air.
Invisible, Professor Sprout swept over the soldiers and dropped another large pouch of powder.
"Careful, it's toxic!"
A soldier shouted, warning the others to put on their gas masks.
Some quick-witted ones had already started donning their masks as soon as they saw the mysterious dust, but the fine powder still made contact with their exposed skin.
One by one, the soldiers collapsed, falling into a deep sleep on the ground.
Professor Sprout felt slightly guilty for her mercy, then redirected her broom toward another group of soldiers.
Meanwhile, Professor Flitwick had already positioned himself behind one of the snipers adjusting his rifle.
The black-clad soldier suddenly felt a chill down his spine. He shrugged his shoulders uneasily, completely unaware as he set up his gun and peered through the scope—
The viewfinder was pitch black, as if he had forgotten to remove the lens cover.
A bright light flashed from ahead…
…
Wade didn't witness what happened next.
He and the others flew straight toward the research facility, only to find that it was still heavily guarded. The main entrance remained locked, seemingly unaffected by the chaos outside.
"Alohomora!"
Professor Snape used a Confundus Charm to distract the surrounding soldiers before pointing his wand at the alloy door. The internal locks clicked and rattled, followed by a distinct clack as the door unlocked.
He reached out and pushed—but it didn't budge.
"Hmm?"
Snape frowned, momentarily puzzled, thinking the door must have some additional mechanism.
Then, to his surprise, the door swung outward—
At the same moment he had pushed, someone inside had been pushing it open.
Snape frowned and quickly took two steps back.
A voice drifted from the gradually opening door—
"…I'll take this one. Finish dealing with the other one as soon as possible."
The man with glasses, completely unaware that anything was amiss, walked out while dragging a light blue case and casually continued his conversation with the person beside him:
"The experiment on the third floor needs to be sped up. Orders from above say we can use slightly rougher methods—increase the drug dosage, just don't kill them."
The masked man next to him chuckled. "Perfect. Let's start with Mabel—Logan's had his eye on her for a while now."
The man with glasses nodded indifferently. "Do as you please. I just need results…"
Before they could say another word, several beams of spellfire shot out simultaneously. The two men at the door collapsed into unconsciousness in an instant.
Wade took the case from them and opened it—only to be met with a rush of cold white mist.
Inside, a collection of freshly harvested organs lay neatly packed with their surfaces still faintly trembling.
For a brief moment, his scalp tingled, and he nearly flung the entire case away in horror.
"Go save her," Professor Snape said calmly.
Steadying himself, Wade took a deep breath, gripped the case tightly, and followed the two professors through the doorway.
Inside, the room was nearly empty. A conveyor belt moved sluggishly, and a person in surgical scrubs stood with their back turned, washing something at a sink.
A steady stream of red-tinted water flowed into the basin.
