Chapter 173 - Chapter 169. An Invitation from Nick Fury

After returning from the Tesseract research base, Noah secluded himself in his laboratory, preparing for a potential war. Various projects that were still in development were displayed on the screen before him.

He scratched his head. Although these research projects were meticulously planned, he was catastrophically short on time to complete them. Even with the genius intellect granted to him by Heimerdinger's legacy, scientific projects didn't reach completion overnight.

This was precisely why he decided to invite Bruce Banner to his team—to share some of the scientific workload. However, Banner had only recently joined him and hadn't started working yet, enjoying a well-deserved rest.

Initially, Noah planned to create a Hextech army to combat the Chitauri forces once their invasion began. It could have been an epic battle between Hextech beasts and aliens. But reality turned out differently: the enemies from across the cosmos didn't give him time to realize his plans and launched their attack on Earth prematurely.

"It seems my T-Hex will debut next time," he said with a hint of regret. The giant Hextech Tyrannosaurus he intended to build remained unfinished. The underground laboratory on his island base, where this project was meant to unfold, was still waiting for its moment.

Then he switched to reviewing the forces at his disposal. Besides himself, he had Lissandra, Gwen, Bruce Banner, Warwick, and the Hat, which could also be considered a powerful ally. Lissandra and Warwick were his most reliable assets, while the situation with Gwen and Banner was less clear.

He hadn't yet seen Gwen in combat and therefore couldn't objectively assess her strength. Since her summoning, there hadn't been a single situation where she could prove herself. And based on the lore, Noah couldn't accurately determine her power level.

"Perhaps I should ask if she wants to participate in the upcoming battle," he thought. It would be beneficial for her to witness a real fight in this world, especially since there wouldn't be any dangerous consequences with him around. However, the power of the Infinity Stones remained a potential hazard, so he would have to be cautious.

As for Banner, he wasn't sure if the scientist would be willing to transform into the Hulk and fight again. But if he refused, it wouldn't be a problem, as Banner's intellect was far more valuable for the current task. Noah planned to entrust him with an important mission—locating the Tesseract. Dr. Banner had already done this in the first Avengers movie.

"Perhaps it's time to prepare another batch of nanobots," Noah decided, entering commands. The robots under Blitzcrank's command had to be ready for action. If the battle unfolded in densely populated cities, their primary task would be to protect civilians.

While immersed in his plans, a notification appeared on the screen.

"Message received from Nick Fury."

"A message from Fury? Let's see."

Nick's message turned out to be an invitation. Fury was inviting him to join his Avengers project, supplementing the invitation with his thoughts and arguments in favor of participation. The entire text was aimed at persuading him to join the team.

"Not a chance," Noah commented curtly.

Joining the Avengers offered him no benefits, and the prospect of being under the control of the US government didn't appeal to him at all. He had always had an aversion to politicians. Instead of joining this alliance, he preferred the idea of creating his own organization. Why not call it the "League of Legends"? It sounded quite fitting.

Skimming through the message, he realized that besides the invitation to join the Avengers, Fury's main goal was to ask him to participate in an operation on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier the next day to combat the alien enemies from space. Nick Fury also mentioned that Tony Stark and Captain America were also invited.

"What? And Banner?" At the end of the message, Noah discovered that Fury had sent another message intended for Bruce Banner. Earlier, after handing over the Hydra agents to S.H.I.E.L.D., he informed Fury that Banner was with him, and Fury decided to relay a message to Banner through Noah.

"Excellent, I was just about to talk to him." Dismissing the message, Noah activated a portal leading to his island base.

Whoosh~

With a quiet sound, a blue spark flickered in the island laboratory, expanding into a portal. Banner, engrossed in his research, noticed the familiar noise and immediately guessed who had arrived.

Noah stepped out of the portal into the brightly lit laboratory and saw the doctor sitting at the computer.

"Good evening," Noah greeted him as he walked towards Banner, the portal slowly closing behind him. Several hours had passed since the incident with the Tesseract, and it was already dark outside.

"Good evening, Noah," Banner replied. After Noah helped him deal with the threat posed by the Leader, their relationship had improved significantly, and the doctor had officially joined his team.

"I reviewed the materials you sent me. I can't believe that other life forms truly exist in the universe. Although, to be honest, I've long suspected that humanity isn't the only race, I just didn't expect them to appear so suddenly," Banner shared his thoughts. Upon returning from the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, Noah had sent him information about the Tesseract and the video featuring Corvus. Much of the material was obtained directly from Fury's base.

After reviewing the data, Banner was deeply shocked by the beings from space, such as General Corvus. However, he was most impressed by the Tesseract itself.

"This Tesseract is simply incredible. How can something like this exist in the world?" the doctor said in awe, examining the information Noah had sent him.

"Of course, it's one of the greatest treasures in the universe," Noah replied with a smile, approaching Banner and running his hand over the computer screen. Fury's message appeared on the monitor.

"By the way, Banner, this message is for you."

"A message? For me?" The surprise on the doctor's face was evident. Since becoming the Hulk, he had almost completely severed contact with his old acquaintances, so he didn't expect anyone to be writing to him.
