"Everyone you set up has been dying left and right, Mother," I hissed into the phone, pressing it hard to my ear. My mother, the one known as the Grey Woman was eager to find out what was going on in the mansion. I never understood what she had done to deserve that title. It meant a lot in our community.
"That is because they were idiots. And you are not going to repeat their mistakes," my mother hissed back, making me roll my eyes.
"It doesn't matter what I want. They're going to get me killed. Now that all the brothers are feeling fine, they'll convince Emmet to kill me," I grunted, walking deeper into the woods, following the path my mother had told me to take.
Finally, I hung up, because she was standing right in front of me. I gave her a look—half disbelief, half frustration.
