"It's true. You entered here from the pearl taken from a mermaid's tail," my statement made both mother and daughter burst out laughing.
At that point Emmet made a small hand gesture, but he kept staring straight at me.
"Come on, Emmet. You remember me, don't you? From our first meeting in that corridor, the forbidden one where you were taking a stroll? You'd been drinking that night. I went there because I was anxious, and I found you. We felt a mate bond and I ran away," I laughed through the memory as silent tears fell.
"You know, I was so scared. But when I got to the room and Charlotte told me that you, my step-brother, stroll there, I was so confused and lost. I thought another step-sibling was going to hate me," I mumbled, sniffling and wiping my tears.
"Step-siblings? We're siblings?" he asked.
