Victor and company began to explore the cave. Further inside, they could see how the cave began to divide much more abruptly. There were paths going up and down, as well as paths leading to the right and left.
The paths did not lead to any specific place. Some might take them back to the surface, while others might lead them to another place, such as where the camp was set up. This is how most vampire caves are, connected by paths, but not all paths lead to the same place.
For example, the cave where the Greenwood family, Stelle's family, lived. It was originally connected to the cave of Truerock the Archduke, and if Stelle's family had looked carefully, they would have noticed that among the paths they could easily find a living wall made of stone.
