"Huh? Does he live here?" Ava asked, furrowing her brows and resting her chin on the edge of the window, trying to get a better view.
"Maybe?" Nova replied, though he didn't sound convinced.
Lilith stayed quiet. Her eyes didn't leave the entrance. There was something about Quinn's body language, he was too cautious, too alert. This wasn't someone returning home. It was someone hiding something.
"I say… we wait," Ava whispered, sitting up straighter in her seat.
"Agreed," Nova nodded. "Let's give it ten minutes. If he doesn't come back out…"
"…We go in," Lilith finished, her voice calm but firm.
The car fell silent. Only the soft hum of the engine and distant sound of wind outside filled the air as the three of them stared ahead.
Ten minutes passed. The street remained still.
Just when Ava was about to yawn and say something silly, the building gate creaked open and Assistant Quinn stepped out again.
All three of them instantly sat up straighter.
