Before starting work, the dock workers gathered in small groups, chatting about topics of interest.
Recently, there have been fewer dock workers, heard they're working for the foreigners.
"I heard they're getting a hundred bucks a day," Qiangzai sat on a stone, cigarette in mouth, eyes full of melancholy, "all doing the same work, yet so different in pay."
Lu Zai carried two steamed buns made by his mother, grinning: "I think it's pretty good now, we don't have to fight, and we earn money."
Qiangzai curled his lips, "One bowl of shark fin costs a hundred bucks, I want to make something of myself, to eat shark fin," he elbowed Lu Zai, "Do you want to eat shark fin?"
Lu Zai laughed naively, "I don't want to... but my mom hasn't had it."
"I'll treat you and your mom to shark fin when I succeed," Qiangzai patted Lu Zai's shoulder loyally, then pointed to a few brothers nearby, "and you guys too."
"Sure, sure."
"Keep your word then..."
