On March 7th, in the third year of Hongjing, Western Jin's Regent King, Prince Wei, Prime Minister of Southern Military Affairs, and Dingxi Provincial Governor, Wei Yuan, submitted a report stating that he obtained a chest of letters from inside Zhao Country showing Jin officials colluding with Zhao Country. The evidence was irrefutable, and the involved parties should be executed according to Tang Law and Jin Law.
Wei Yuan had already captured all the officials involved from the Southern Eight Commanderies and imprisoned them, only waiting for the trial to execute them. However, these offending officials had connections with many prominent figures in the court, thus Wei Yuan petitioned for severe punishment for all.
The report included a list of the officials involved and their accomplices, shockingly numbering over a thousand!
