Just after Reiger stopped in his tracks, it wasn't long before Bert, who had been bickering with Theona, also came to a halt.
He sniffed the air and twitched his ears, then, as a beastman with keen senses, conveyed a message to everyone present.
"A group of people is running this way, in a panic, and there's a scent of blood. Something must have happened."
As soon as he said this, everyone stopped in their tracks.
"There really are people."
Ais lightly grasped the hilt of the sword tied to her waist and spoke up.
The rest of them looked at each other, then collectively turned their gaze forward, towards a nearby side path.
From that path, if you listened carefully, you could hear the chaotic sound of hurried footsteps.
In no time, a group of adventurers with panicked expressions and varying degrees of injuries burst out from the side path as if being chased by monsters.
"Stop right there! You small fry!"
