Miwa Kasumi woodenly took the sword, unable to muster any intention to draw it against Reiger.
Her body was unharmed, not having been hit by that previous strike.
Yet behind her, more accurately, in the forest that the strike had grazed past, only splintered trees remained.
The severed ends of those trees were extremely smooth and even. It wasn't until the trees fell and the stirred-up dust enveloped them that they disappeared into the dust and sand.
Reiger no longer regarded Miwa Kasumi, turning instead to confront Kamo Noritoshi, who lunged at him.
"...you monster."
By this time, Kamo Noritoshi had already stopped, no longer rushing towards Reiger.
He had no choice.
Witnessing such an astounding slash with his own eyes, Noritoshi's instincts simply wouldn't allow his body to approach a sword-wielding Reiger so recklessly.
So, the moment the flash of the blade appeared, Noritoshi unconsciously halted, following his survival instincts.
