Chapter 24 - Her burden

Chloe's POV

The oath-swearing ceremony ended and I left the venue immediately, not waiting for the merriment part. 

I walked to my manor briskly, craving the comfort of my bed. Every other thing could wait. 

I was still feeling weak from the poison of the wolfsbane. Any other wolf wouldn't be up and about by that time because of the poison, but I could pull it off because I had trained myself to withstand pain. 

"That son of a bitch thought he was smart!" I growled inwardly, gritting my teeth as I remembered the pain I had been through. 

"Well, I am going to see how he keeps up his smartness on his way to hell without a head." I stated inwardly, chuckling to myself. I was satisfied at what I did to the foolish Beta, Lawrence. 

Then, I had entered my living room. And Thomas, the head of the workers in my manor walked up to me, his head bowed respectfully. 

"I guess something good has happened, Alpha. You are chuckling..." Thomas said, happiness evident in his voice.
