Chapter 14 - Tryout Game 2

There was Shin, playing Shooting Guard, known for his sharpshooting skills; Kishi, the Point Guard, whose leadership would be tested; Jin, a Power Forward with a knack for agility; Xin, a Small Forward who thrived on passes; and Aizawa, the Center, whose height gave him an advantage under the basket.

Meanwhile the enemies were .....

Kevin, their Center, who had earned respect in the previous year. The rest of the second-year team included Kyojin, the Point Guard known for his quick decisions; Frey, their Power Forward, who excelled in strength; Guren, their Small Forward, agile and strategic; and Juren, the Shooting Guard, whose accuracy made him a reliable scorer.

It was a back to back scoring to both of the team.

Then Renji planned some assists that will make them perplexed. Renji was in the position and then he saw the ball passed to him by their point guard. He immediately passed the ball to their three pointer and it was not forced. Just a subtle flow that made Shin to instinctively shoot as his guard was not on focus while they faced. He immediately went to his shooting form and then threw the ball.

Whoosh!

3 points!

Immediately the second years retaliated. They dashed towards their defense and the first years still haven't formed their defense yet. Caught unprepared, Kevin went to dash and leap high. Making him to dunk at their ring.

With that, Kevin smirked at them.

"Okay! Let's retaliate!" Renji shouted. He passed it to the point guard and then they dashed back to the enemy. Renji was guarded by Kevin and so he was shut down from the beginning. Making him pass the ball to Jin which bounced and went to his hands by an instant. He was perplexed that he moved in an instant. He was also surprised with his pass that he smiled while clutching the ball. It was momentarily near perfection of a pass.

Without the center in the under basket, he immediately went to jump. He was free and so he dunked it to the basket.

Then Kevin clicked his tongue. He was preoccupied with Renji that forgot they enemy team also have a dunker. They immediately retaliated with a pass break and Kevin dashed towards their court in just several seconds. He dunked at the ring to make a notion that they were still the seniors here.

With the enemy scoring, Renji told them to pace down and relax. They needed to win this one with witts and not brawn.

Renji then dribbled the ball and then passed to their point guard which also have dribbling skills. Unlike his was only subpar compared to the official players. He just regained his defender skill but not yet his dribbling skills.

He immediately called for the ball and the other team already have their defense formation. To break it, they need a good initiative of the point guard.

"Shake their defenses," Renji commanded Kishi.

"Sure," he immediately winked and then started his play.

He dashed to his left and then right then the moment his enemy went to his bait to follow his, then he passed the ball to Renji, in turn went to pass to Aizawa above him nearby the basket. He was forced to leap and make a hook shot.

2 points!

The enemy team then attacked and did a three. Kenji then went to defense mode and will not let them easily break through.

Then Renji immediately made a blind pass on the point guard and a lay up was made by Kishi.

2 points!

Kevin in the meantime was annoyed and gritted his teeth. "Those passes are annoying. And unpredictable. We must not let it disrupt the momentum."

Then they immediately became more wary of those passes. It was a normal one but was unpredictable. A good judgement of the current situation plus deft of hands was needed. He has to be careful though as one mistake would lead to drastic falling of the ball to the opponent.

Then Kevin lead their team with more resilience. They immediately recovered from the nuisance of those passes and then countered. They made a half court pass and an alley hoop. Leading to their points

2 points!

A pass on Renji then he twirled, curving the path of the ball to the three pointer Shin. In which made him to shoot the ball in the three point line.

3 points!

"Wait!? What happened? The ball just curved!" shouted Kevin. The other team members also have the same reaction. Though it didn't let them distract their attention and focus at the moment. They have to retain their composure and dismissed the thoughts of the abnormalities of their play.

"All of you! Focus!" shouted Kevin. He said as he patted his teammates on the back.

Then it was turn of Renji's team. Renji threw the ball at the board and Jin leaped. A board pass and Dunk.

2 points!

Then the team of Kevin made an advanced pass that made their forward to dunk. It was fast and the team of Renji was perplexed.

"See? We can do that too!" Shouted their point guard. Having a thumbs down on them.

2 points!

Then the team of Renji made a drive pass that made the point guard to burst in the defense and shake them. Kishi was able to shake the defender and then used Renji's tactics. The double shooting guard triple pass technique.

Kishi passed to Shin then the defender was wary so he passed to Renji. In which made him to throw the ball to the 3 points line.

Whoosh! Points leading to the Renji's team!

The second years were all watching and observing them....they smiled and felt that the team has coordination now than before they started.

The second years were amazed with their performance.... maybe this time, and thus they were hoping, this time maybe will be different, and they have a chance to be in the winter cup with this team. This first years were all talented and Kevin himself has been moved by their determination.

"Go team! Let's end this!" Kevin shouted.....

Then something changed into their tempo. The first years also felt the change in them. They immediately counter attack with their all out offensive brawl towards the first years

"Let's make them see the reason why we reached finals." Kevin shouted. Then they all smiled, having reminiscing the past plays they have with each other. They chuckled, it was just the start for them.

Making the first years to worry. They haven't displayed their full potential yet? Maybe it was.....
