Chapter 194 - Number One Battlefield Killer Move; The Giant Weeds Life

A wide patch of deep-purple grass rustled under amber sky. Thick golden clouds floated and moved at a steady pace, casting lasting shadows on the ground. The patch of purple grass was completely ordinary. However, it covered an area with a radius of one kilometer. There was nothing on this specific patch of grass. Beyond this area, the grass grew green and light yellow. A scene of bustling town warmed one's sight—protected by tall and thick walls that were further lined with towers manned by a gu master each.

Right at the edge of the patch of grass stood a pair of gu masters, their intent to guard this specific spot all too clear. They featured weathered looks, their bodies dressed in a telling blue and white robe, conspicuous green tokens pinned onto their belts. Both emitted the aura of a middle stage rank 3 gu master.

Sensing something amiss, the duo turned smoothly, the practice behind their movement evident even to an untrained eye.

A slight commotion bloomed in the center of the purple patch of grass. Others didn't pay it any heed. Tens of gu masters spared the blooming purple glow a glance before continuing their paths.

"Newcomers." One of the two guards grunted coarsely. "Resurrected members never take such a long time."

"Keep your mouth in check, Elder Brother." Cautioned the younger of the duo, equally seasoned but younger and sharper. "Senior Brother Han already told us about Disciple Bai and Elder Shu."

The elder brother snorted.

"How long do you think that ordinary disciple will last here? I'd wager one experience with death will send her running with a lifetime of trauma alongside snot and tears."

The younger brother sighed.

The purple glow grew brighter and bigger, but its light was restrained. It took the shape of a tall door as two figures stepped out. While the duo wore similar blue and white robes, they couldn't appear more different.

On the left sauntered a considerably tall and well-built woman. Her short brown hair barely passed the nape of her neck, her features exuding a strange charm and brilliance alongside the shocking aura of an initial stage rank 5 gu master. However, from her belt dangled a white token.

Meanwhile, the one on the left was shorter. The lapel of her robes was conspicuously white, standing out. Even though she looked ordinary, the peak stage rank 5 aura was more than enough to leave others pale and shocked.

"Greetings, Elder Shu!" The brothers cupped their fists, bowing slightly.

Bai Shou and Shu Zhe glanced at each other as the latter noticed the former's curiosity. The duo looked at the distant brothers, who were forced to use sound-enhancing gu worms. After all, the couple arrived in the center of the patch of purple grass, exactly a kilometer away.

The light door behind the duo closed. As the light door condensed into a point of purple glow like a distant twinkling star, it broke into several tinier wisps of purple glow before drizzling down the strange grass patch.

Instead of using their gu worms, Bai Shou and Shu Zhe adopted a brisk pace. Bai Shou also took the chance to take in her surroundings. Aside from the thick walls and a group of gu masters, almost everyone possessing a cultivation of at least rank 3, Bai Shou also observed several spartan buildings. Unlike the usual architecture found within sect, the pale-grey walls, the straight and sharp edges, and blunt, aggressive protrusions left the viewer feeling gloomy.

There were also two residential districts in the town. One side sported uniform but smaller and more congested buildings, each one looking like a cultivation chamber stylized into a home. Meanwhile, one the opposite was a more lavish district. It was the only location with different architectures and a few house-type gu worms. With a glance, Bai Shou could immediately summarize several aspects about this town.

"How many entrances did you say the sect controlled during your time?" Bai Shou asked casually. Like her, Shu Zhe also observed everything. She wore her usual mask of indifference and rigidity, replying in a slow and cold manner. "Seventeen."

Bai Shou hummed.

"Now, it's one."

Credit where credit's due, the guarding brothers maintained their posture until Bai Shou and Shu Zhe covered the distance.

"Lead us to the War Hall."

Shu Zhe nodded before ordering.

"This…" The two brothers instantly looked troubled. They glanced at each other.

"Trouble?" Bai Shou questioned with a polite smile.

"Legacy Disciple Han commanded us to—" The elder brother began when he felt a splash of warm blood on the side of his face.

*Thud*

His younger brother's headless corpse collapsed before disappearing with a flash of purple light, leaving behind a small pile of gu worms.

The stunned elder brother looked at the pile before turning to glare at Bai Shou, her hands dripping with blood. Even the bone shards stuck against the crease of her palm had disappeared in that flash of light. Only that small splash of blood was the reminder of a cold fact, that Bai Shou was—

"You demon!" The elder brother howled angrily. But even he never noticed how swift his end arrived.

The surroundings flew into an uproar, several outraged cries soon sounding strangled as they noticed Shu Zhe's robes.

Even now, the duo did not touch the small pile of gu worms.

Meanwhile, a soft purple glow flashed, and the two brothers appeared in the center of the purple grass patch, still clothed and shocked. The earlier splash of blood remained on their fabric.

"Huh!" Bai Shou laughed jovially. "They truly healed!" She waved at the brothers.

"You two! Your gu worms are right here! I'm taking one each as a compensation!"

She chuckled before bending slightly and taking two of the more interesting gu worms before pointing at one of the elite disciples.

"You." Bai Shou narrowed her eyes. "Take us to the war room or be prepared to hand over a gu worm."

The surroundings grew quiet. Bai Shou and Shu Zhe weren't the only rank 5 gu worms, but the latter was certainly the only elder in the area. The thing was… elders did not usually enter Reincarnation Battlefield. The disciples were more used to seeing and remaining under the command of the leading legacy disciple, which was often decided by a match between the few of them.

"I told you my method worked better." Bai Shou communicated with Shu Zhe, already prepared with several gu worms.

"You're a sore loser." Shu Zhe scoffed, her emotions out in the open as opposed to how she presented herself to the group of disciples. "I was going to make things work, but you interfered."

Bai Shou smirked internally.

"And?" She hummed. "How would you punish me?"

"Knowing that you like it rough…" Shu Zhe answered casually. "I'm just going to ignore your advances."

Bai Shou almost rolled her eyes.

She knew what this so-called 'ignoring the advances' meant, and it was not a form of punishment but a shameless lure.

But… Bai Shou wasn't going to complain. Married life truly had its charm, and even without expecting more rewards, she was certainly going to use this convenient excuse. It would be a shame otherwise.

Two graceful women occupied the war hall—a barely decorated concrete room with a similar grey bench embedded in the center, its surface covered with a layer of light-yellow clay displaying an exquisite miniature model of the entire battlefield killer move.

Of the two, one was a rank 5 gu master and the other was a rank 4 gu master. Both, however, had golden tokens on their bodies.

"Trying to antagonize an elder specifically sent by a Supreme Elder was not a wise move, Sister Han." The first to speak was the rank 4 gu master. She was a woman beyond her prime, dressed in the same blue-white robe. However, she carried herself with a dignified poise.

The other woman, much older, sported threads of white in her greying hair.

"Antagonize?" She chuckled lightly. "Since when did welcoming an elder become a thing of provocation, Sister Zi."

*Bang*

The door to the war hall suddenly blasted open, surprising the duo. They stood up, instantly noticing an ordinary disciple—slightly ruffled—pressing her foot atop a struggling gu master. He was one of the guards stationed outside the war hall.

"What are you doing?!" The rank 4 gu master called Zi shouted in shock as the brown-haired woman spared them a glance before—

*Crack*

Her foot crushed the gu master's head, adding another splash of red to her outfit. By now, her robes consisted more red than blue and white.

"Teaching a lesson."

Bai Shou chuckled calmly, observing the small pile of gu worms before picking something from the loot, humming in amusement.

"You two must be Legacy Disciples Han Yu Lan and Zi Jun Zhen."

She nodded at the duo, grinning.

"Well met."

"Audacious junior!" Han Yu Lan's expression crumpled, only for her gaze to stiffen as another woman stepped from behind Bai Shou.

"Legacy Disciples are afforded certain benefits, but not one of them includes the right to insult the sect leader and elder. Disciple Han, Disciple Zi, did the environment of Reincarnation Battlefield affect your minds?"

Han Yu Lan and Zi Jun Zhen grew quiet. They glanced behind Shu Zhe, noticing a group of gu masters filling the long hallway.

Breaking into a gentle smile, Han Yu Lan was the first to cup her fist.

"Of course, not. Elder Shu Zhe's name still strikes like thunder in the ears of every disciple. How could we dare disrespect you. But you are also correct. The nature of this battlefield is strict and unforgiving, affecting many disciples. It's good that you are here. We will surely turn the situation around under your guidance."

With a few words, Han Yu Lan praised Shu Zhe, pinned the blame on other disciples and the battlefield killer move itself, and forced the elder into a pedestal of expectations where every disciple now looked forward to reversing their unfavorable situation by attacking the other ten ancient sect.

"Very well."

Shu Zhe smiled faintly.

"Disciple Bai." She turned to her consort, as Bai Shou straightened her back.

"Do acquaint yourself with the rules of this battlefield killer move. I shall plan our camp's next steps in the meantime."

"As you command." Bai Shou gave a formal bow before turning on her heel and leaving.

<<<>>>

"Those two took over the command rather smoothly."

"It's not strange. The environment inside the battlefield is similar to conflict of Imperial Court in Northern Plains. After so many deaths and battles, many disciples act like Northern Plains' warriors, respecting power above all."

Two gu immortal retracted their gazes.

One of them was a female gu immortal, and the other was Feng Jiu Ge's will.

"Are you certain about them, Brother Feng?" The female gu immortal questioned, her curiosity evident. "The sect had to divert others from Reincarnation Battlefield due to the attacks on our other resource points. Defending just this meager position has become challenging enough. I heard Lei Tan from Immortal Crane's side is using our recent defeat to accumulate even more investment for Reincarnation Battlefield."

Her expression turned heavy.

"This is the last entrance point the sect controls. If we even lose this…"

Feng Jiu Ge did not appear worried. He momentarily focused on Bai Shou before smiling.

"Geniuses rose and fell even before the creation of Reincarnation Battlefield. Even if the other nine sects force us out, they will still be sharing this inheritance's resources and wonder among themselves. However, Spirit Affinity House is in full control of Dang Hun Mountain. The quality of our disciples is already on the rise as many talented gu masters have strengthened their souls."

"Unless the sect witnesses the reversal with already invested resources, it's going to be difficult to change First Elder's mind."

"However, the other nine sects invested many resources to force our hands. The best method is to let them waste their resources as we use Dang Hun Mountain to its fullest extent."

The female gu immortal nodded, not noticing a flash of strangeness in Feng Jiu Ge's gaze.

'Even if I say that… the First Supreme Elder appeared reluctant to employ Bai Shou in Reincarnation Battlefield. Given its rule, Bai Shou should be safe even if affected by the weirdest of dream realms. This battlefield even 'revives' the gu masters who die due to soul injuries. When revived, their souls grow weak.'

'But that hesitation only lasted for a few breaths.'

Feng Jiu Ge felt something afoot but did not have any idea why he experienced such a feeling in his gut.

"Fairy Yu." Feng Jiu Ge smiled at the female gu immortal.

"As for being certain about them… I'm not." He answered candidly. "But I believe Bai Shou and Shu Zhe will give their all for this gu worm. I trust you to set it in the Supply Hall when the time is ripe."

Fairy Yu looked at the gu worm, her gaze slightly brightening.

"Very well."

<<<>>>

Bai Shou walked under the amber sky, attracting several gazes from other disciples. Their looks had clearly changed, containing fear and shock alongside a sliver of respect. The more she looked around, the more emotional she felt.

It wasn't her first time encountering a Battlefield Killer Move. Such a move could be exceptionally draining even for someone like Bai Shou, who possessed two apertures at rank 5 stage. However, Jiu Loong Jin once used a strange battlefield killer move for a surprisingly long time. The fact that killer move could suppress Bai Shou revealed it must have had enough rank 5 gu worms, but Jiu Loong Jin could bear its use. Unfortunately, that opponent killed his gu worms before his death, leaving nothing for Bai Shou.

So, it was surprising that Reincarnation Battlefield did not suppress Bai Shou at all.

Furthermore, this killer move had huge origins!

After roaming the world, the last of the ten venerables, Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable left this battlefield killer move in central continent!

Yes!

Reincarnation Battlefield was Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable's True Inheritance!

Bai Shou couldn't help but sigh as she recalled this battlefield's advantage.

She ignored the calls of scouting gu masters as she left the town, her gaze greeting lush greenery.

'A battlefield killer move engraves temporary dao marks in a region, suppressing methods of other dao marks and enhancing the use of certain other dao marks. Yet, Reincarnation Battlefield doesn't suppress anyone. Beasts and humans alike can display their full potential. Not to mention, it heals humans, reverting one's death and sending them to the entrance they emerged from. That teleportation is the ingenuity of space path.'

Bai Shou touched the nearby tree, feeling its vitality.

'After so many years, the so-called temporary dao marks have completely changed the environment. The inside of Reincarnation Battlefield is also larger than the outside perimeter. It would not have been different from a blessed land if not for the same time flow shared with the main continent.'

Reincarnation Battlefield was hailed as the number one battlefield killer move! Its structure certainly had something to do with it. Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable created a killer move that continued to oppose the flow of time, standing tall and unshakable. But there was another reason.

'Paradise Earth was known to be the kindest venerable. But he wasn't blind to human nature and understood conflict arose for many reasons, so he promoted fair and harmonious competition. To Central Continent, he left Reincarnation Battlefield. His intentions were deep and profound.'

'By healing everyone who died, this battlefield soon came to become the most popular location in Central Continent for a period of time. Many gu masters and gu immortals would take their conflict in here, battling it out and accepting the results without being fettered by the threat of death.'

Bai Shou then sneered.

'Did Paradise Earth expect things to turn out this way?' She mused. Bai Shou wasn't strong enough to understand a Venerable's depth, so she could only speculate what would Paradise Earth think of the current situation.

'Ten Ancient Sects soon came to control Reincarnation Battlefield. Due to its nature, the interiors permanently changed, creating a different set of materials, gu worms, and beasts. It became a land of unimaginable resources. Furthermore, Ten Ancient Sects also used this location to hone their talented gu masters, letting them experience death and weeding out the weak minded, leaving groups of trained and experienced fighters.'

The gu masters Bai Shou killed could have effortlessly dealt with a couple of demonic gu masters!

They were the cream of the crop.

Reincarnation Battlefield was one of the main reasons why certain elites from the Ten Ancient Sects outclassed other disciples from smaller super forces and vicious demons alike.

All legacy disciples must spend some time inside this battlefield killer move and earn enough contribution points as a rite of passage.

As such, what Paradise Earth left for the entirety of Central Continent was soon held by the powerful few.

'Maybe he foresaw it.' Bai Shou shrugged. It's not like she could ask the man. The venerables were dead for a long time. If they could have returned to life, they would have already done so.

But dangers lurk everywhere.

Just because humans got healed didn't mean the same for beasts, plants, and gu worms.

There were rules here.

Bai Shou killed many gu masters of her camp. It wasn't against the rule here because they could revive! In fact, many internal conflicts were resolved in this manner. However, she didn't go overboard by looting all their gu worms.

Taking a step back, why would the dead leave the gu worms for Bai Shou?

Because of this rule.

Gu Worms were more valuable than human life inside Reincarnation Battlefield. When dying to outsiders, the gu masters of Spirit Affinity House would detonate their gu worms. But they didn't do it when they experienced death inside their camp.

Everyone would have opposed Bai Shou and Shu Zhe if the former had gone overboard. However, only respect remained in their hearts due to the display of her strength and ferocity.

The sect was in a dire need for reinforcement, and many disciples were overjoyed to witness Bai Shou's abilities.

Bai Shou paused and used Rank 5 Heaven and Earth Before My Eyes.

'There they are.'

Shu Zhe and Bai Shou already planned a few things. Since it concerned the former's aperture, the couple couldn't rely on others. So, Shu Zhe wanted to firmly control the camp. Even if Bai Shou hadn't been able to heal Shu Zhe's aperture with her intellect, she could certainly exploit her brawn to help the elder acquire another gu worm to heal her aperture.

When they barged into the War Hall, Bai Shou had glanced at the battlefield's miniature on the table, noticing most of the nearby enemy camps controlling the resource points.

She openly left the camp to cause panic.

Why?

How else would the fodder follow her?

Rank 4 Crimson Bat Wings.

A pair of bat wings grew from Bai Shou's back.

Rank 5 All-Out Effort.

The phantom of an Ash Bat let out a silent howl behind Bai Shou as she shot into the sky, flying agilely. Her movements were conspicuous, instantly attracting the attention of the nearby scouts from Heavenly Lotus Sect.

Before they could react and inform their leaders, Bai Shou's almost blinked through her position with astonishingly extreme speed!

Rank 5 Multiply!

She left a crimson phantom in her wake, eyes trailing a large resource point of sun earth flowers. There was already a camp here, defending another patch of purple grass. These patches of purple grass were the entrance points into Reincarnation Battlefield.

A total of hundred such entrances, each mimicking the central continent and marking one of the main continent's important locations, dotted the battlefield.

This location was actually a decent distance from Spirit Affinity House's camp.

"Attack!"

"Shoot her down!"

The gu masters were already prepared, having heard from the scouts. No matter Bai Shou's speed, she couldn't overcome the speed of a few lightning-quick information path gu worms or transmissions. More than cautious, several gu masters layered barriers around the camp, more than capable of defending against most of what Bai Shou was capable of throwing.

She waited, calmly dodging several attacks. Lightning, fire, snow, ice, and many more elements tried and failed to graze her.

Her eyes quickly scanned the region before she flew away.

"What? Where is she going?" An elite disciple from Heavenly Lotus Sect looked gloomy as he watched the woman fly away.

'Was she scouting?'

This thought only registered for a second before loud alarms distracted the elite disciple.

He noticed a trail of mist flying in their direction with extreme speed!

"What?!"

Alarmed, the elite disciple leader ordered the disciples to attack!

To their shock, the trail of mist collided against their barriers!

*Crack*

*Crack*

*Crack*

They shattered like layers of wafer-thin ice, revealing a scarred man oozing continuous mist.

'No! That's a…'

Elite Disciple's expression changed.

Little Giant Emperor!

Bai Shou moved like a wild bull, his every movement bursting with unending strength! Several attacks landed on his body before breaking apart. When these attacks touched Bai Shou's body, a faint golden light flashed around the region, dispelling most of these methods. It was not a killer move but a display of Bai Shou's skills and attainment in full force!

A Gu Master uses, nurtures, and refines the gu.

Each subject is incomparably broad and vast like an endless abyss.

Where the use of Rank 4 Golden Bell Shield would have several other gu masters just reveal its casual use in the form of a golden light covering them, Bai Shou instead preserved his essence and even revealed a fine control over the gu worm by only using the gu worm to protect a small region where the attack was predicted to land.

It reduced the necessary mental exertion required to maintain the continuous use of the rank 4 gu worm, freeing Bai Shou to commit…

Endless slaughter!

His laughter boomed. What a kind Paradise Earth!

Bai Shou tore through shocked and desperate gu masters, carving a path of blood, most of which vanished and reformed within the entrance point these gu masters arrived from.

"A mere strength path moron!"

The elite disciple hissed as he emitted suffocating pressure. Legacy Disciples were very rare. Most of the time, the responsibility of defending a camp fell on talented elite disciples. The gu master floated in mid-air, a phantom of green lotus appearing around him.

Instantly, several thick roots tore from the ground, whipping Bai Shou.

These roots were as thick as elephants, their crackles creating noises no worse than the roar of thunder.

*Pah*

Despite avoiding plenty of strikes, dexterously jumping around and even running through a modest length of these roots, Bai Shou was struck away before he could approach the elite disciple.

"You are no match for me!" The elite disciple yelled, eyes bright with fury and pride. "This is a killer move taught only to a few disciples in our sect! How do you like the taste of my Heavenly Root Whips?!"

All the roots slammed into the spot where Bai Shou landed, burying him.

*Bang*

*Bang*

*Bang*

*Bang*

*Bang*

*Bang*

Numerous cracks spread across the ground. Plenty of buildings shook and shattered from the impact alone! Soon enough, even the walls around them crumbled as several surviving disciples regathered behind the elite disciples in a safe spot. They all cheered, excitement filling their veins after such a sudden but welcoming battle! Having spent such a long time inside the battlefield changed their views, making them more battle thirsty.

The elite disciple's laughter suddenly stopped as he let out a strangled cry.

As several of the whips pulled back, he found one particular whip stuck into the ground, taut with tension. Even when he tried to pull back, the peculiar root whip struggled and couldn't move.

*Rip*

*Puff*

The elite disciple's expression changed as he vomited a mouthful of blood. As his vision swam and wavered, prompting the attentive disciples to quickly heal him, they all saw a bloodied Bai Shou climbing up from the crater, carrying the slowly withering root overhead.

Though the blood covered his face, they could all see him grinning from ear-to-ear.

"I'd wager the reason only a few disciples were taught this killer move is due to its weakness."

Bai Shou educated slowly. Despite their differences, they were all part of Ten Ancient Sects and righteous brothers and sisters. The elite disciple's expression changed as Bai Shou's casual stroll turned into a brisk jog.

"Destroying the attacks interrupts the killer moves, creating a backlash!"

He concluded the short lecture as a firm punch sent the nearest disciple tumbling into a meat paste.

His figure tore through the crowd as the elite disciple retreated. While fearless of death, the elite disciple would feel the pinch of losing all his gu worms!

Alas…

Bai Shou was especially powerful even in the realm of rank 5 gu masters.

<<<>>>

"Oh, he will do fine!" The female gu immortal nodded, a pleased smile on her lips. She thanked Feng Jiu Ge, who soon left.
