~CAMILLE~
Niklaus pulls up in front of my apartment building, the engine humming low before he shuts it off. We don't speak for a second. There's something quiet but heavy between us—something I'm too afraid to name. His hand rests on my thigh, thumb brushing small circles that make it even harder to think clearly.
"I'll walk you in," he says, but I'm already opening the door.
We both step out just as Alice and Carter come out the front entrance. Carter spots me first and waves like I've been gone for a week. "Camille!"
"Hey, big man." I call, waving back.
Alice narrows her eyes the moment she sees who's with me. And then she grins. "Well, well, if it isn't the hot god himself."
Niklaus chuckles, flashing her one of his lazy, infuriatingly charming smiles. "Morning, Alice."
"Good morning, future heartbreak," she says dramatically before looking at me. "You could have warned me. He looks like sin and trouble had a baby."
I groan. "Please don't boost his ego."
