Zernos Blood Curse is now 100% certain that he has been tricked.
I was betrayed by my own kind.
That's not surprising. It's perfectly normal for the Dark Eldar to retaliate against each other.
Few races have more infighting than the Dark Eldar, and it takes on a wider variety of forms.
However, this time, he really couldn't figure out who was behind his scheme.
It's not that there aren't enough candidates, but rather that there are too many.
Are they members of the Blood Curse Clan who don't want to see him make a contribution? Or are they people he's offended, and he's taking this opportunity to get rid of them?
Or is it another family outside the Blood Curse family that tried to trap the Blood Curse family, but ended up trapping themselves?
Both are possible.
But whoever did it, whatever their purpose, they have truly driven him into a corner.
He led his team through the Veil Spirit Gate into the real universe, only to be blocked here. The Veil Spirit Gate was also destroyed, but that didn't really matter.
If all else fails, we can play hide-and-seek and find another place to build one.
The sixty-meter-diameter curtain gate is essentially a beacon; it's not difficult to build, as his ship has the equipment, materials, and manpower.
Opening the door is difficult; it requires a tormented soul.
But that's not a concern. They don't dare to raid escorted fleets. Instead, they send small boats and landing craft, relying on their excellent stealth technology, to sneak around to the surface of the human planet. Whether they attack some villages or go to the lower city of the human's so-called nest capital, they can always plunder people.
In fact, based on his experience, in most cases, they could do it without anyone noticing. Local governments in the human realm, let alone stopping them, often took a long time to realize that a large number of people had disappeared.
They may never even realize it.
The lower level of the nest city has fewer than a few thousand or even ten thousand people... Isn't that a normal fluctuation?
But the league taught him a lesson.
When he attempted to raid, he did succeed; the Dark Eldar's stealth technology was excellent enough to bypass the planet's defense systems.
The most dangerous phase has passed; the rest should be quite simple.
Based on his past experience, he chose an inconspicuous, impoverished area, kidnapped more than three thousand people, and then turned to run away.
But at that very moment, a major problem arose: they were discovered!
They successfully navigated the most dangerous landing phase, so how did they get discovered while raiding people?
Later, he realized that his past experience had misled him: the Alliance's control and management of the grassroots of society was not a concept at all compared to the imperial world in the general sense.
When a hundred people are missing, the local authorities react; when local officials are also missing, the next higher level sounds the alarm; when thousands are missing, the officials in charge of the area are sweating profusely, realizing they have a huge responsibility to bear…
Of course, at this stage, they did not realize that the enemy was the dark elves, but thought it was another insect infestation.
The planet's local defense forces were the first to arrive, and unsurprisingly, they were defeated by them.
The Dark Eldar are still quite formidable in combat. Their population is pitifully small compared to the myriad of other beings in the universe. If their individual combat abilities were also lacking, it would be utterly absurd.
Not to mention the legitimate Black Sprouts, even the blood slaves under the command of the Black Sprouts, who are modified and controlled using flesh and blood technology, as well as the interstellar mercenaries who, due to various factors, ended up in Comoros and worked for the Black Sprouts, are actually quite powerful in combat.
However, the small quantity remains a problem.
This isn't their home turf; if they get bogged down here, they're doomed.
Therefore, despite their superior military strength, they were still forced to abandon their gains and quickly withdraw.
Upon returning to their ship, they encountered a truly formidable enemy: the Alliance's garrison on the planet had arrived.
This is a legitimate unit of the Allied Army.
Under Gu Hang's persistent investment of Blessing Points, nurtured by the Alliance's ever-expanding military production, and tempered by countless wars and victories, the Alliance Army grew increasingly powerful. They possessed a fighting force far superior to the Imperial's ordinary Astral Army, leaving a very deep impression on Zernos.
His blood slave army and mercenary forces composed of various alien races were repeatedly defeated by an equal number of Alliance troops.
Zernos had no choice but to send out his true elite troops—his pureblood guards.
These Dark Eldar, armed with guns, blades at their waists, and clad in jet-black armor, were deadly battlefield killers. Though numbering only a few hundred, they performed a role akin to Space Marines, swiftly crushing the Alliance's two vanguard regiments.
With their help, the main force was finally able to cover their return to the ship safely.
Having evaded anti-aircraft fire and escaped the planet's surface, the Dark Eldar not only gained nothing from their journey but also suffered considerable losses.
More importantly, their whereabouts were completely exposed, and they were delayed on the ground for a considerable period of time.
Before they could escape far, the human pursuit fleet arrived.
They could only chase and flee from these human fleets in the vast sea of stars.
After finally creating some distance and accelerating to a jump point, preparing to jump to another star system, they suddenly sensed a human fleet emerging from the jump point when they were only an hour or two away from it.
The only option was to turn around and run again.
The longer it drags on, the more human fleets arrive.
Even at this point, Zernos was still not particularly panicked.
Although he did not capture enough people, nor did he have the space to set up the Veil Spirit Gate, this meant that they had almost no chance of returning alive.
However, they were still able to return dead.
Knowing that those humans might possess a way to sever the soul connection between the Dark Eldar and the Comoros, Zernos certainly wouldn't allow himself to fall into their hands.
Getting caught is worse than ending it all.
At worst, they could endure a period of emptiness and be resurrected by the Blood Spirits using the Soul Chest left in Comoros. Although that would mean losing all their Blood Slaves, their entire raiding fleet, and paying the Blood Spirits a hefty price for the resurrection…
But in the end, he survived and made it back.
But the most terrifying thing happened at this moment: they suddenly lost their connection with Comoros.
Not only him, but all the Dark Eldar are the same.
He quickly ruled out that it was human intervention.
They do not yet possess the ability to sever the connection of souls over such a long distance.
That means that on the other side, in Comoros, all of their soul boxes have been controlled.
Only then did Zernos realize that his blood was cold.
