Her lashes quivered. Then her eyes snapped open, pupils blown wide with primal, animalistic fear. The overhead light reflected the raw panic swimming in her gaze, drowning her in memories she couldn't escape.
Before either man could react, she jerked violently back into the pillows, her body recoiling as if their touch had burned her flesh down to the bone. Her lips parted in a hoarse, ragged gasp.
Her small hands clawed free from their grip as if scorched by acid, nails scraping against her own skin in her desperation to get away.
"Don't touch me!" she rasped, voice cracking through her dry throat, the sound tearing like fabric. "Don't.... don't.... don't touch me....!"
Her chest heaved violently. The machines beeped frantically, alarms shrieking into the sudden chaos. Sweat broke across her temples, her skin turning clammy and pale as death.
