"Breathe in… breathe out…"
He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. After a long while, Seimei's mood finally settled.
Without hesitation, he raised his hand to form seals and activated the Heart Reflection Technique, initiating the process to stimulate his brain into producing that special chakra—the very kind that drives the evolution of the Sharingan. Then, he channeled it directly to his eyes.
That familiar tingling sensation washed over him again. Seimei gritted through the discomfort in his eyes, letting the chakra work on his visual nerves, triggering mutations that further strengthened his Sharingan. However, unlike previous sessions, this time the stimulation didn't push his Sharingan any further—it remained at the (50000/50000) level.
Still, Seimei wasn't overly worried. He knew this wasn't something that could be achieved overnight. Moreover, while using the Heart Reflection Technique, he could clearly sense that his Sharingan was undergoing subtle changes. In other words, he wasn't standing still. There was no need to rush—it was all just part of the grind.
And so, time and again, Seimei repeatedly employed the Heart Reflection Technique, channeling that unique chakra from his mind into his eyes to spur their evolution. At first, he even kept count, estimating when the mutation might occur. But soon he became so absorbed that he lost track of time, mechanically repeating the process.
I must admit, the leap from the Mangekyō Sharingan to the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan is truly formidable. Lacking the shortcut of having a sibling's eyes to fuse, he could only rely on painstaking, gradual effort—slowly awakening his latent genes to complete the process. At times, he even had to guide his body's genes to mutate in a controlled manner. Fortunately, he had the Heart Reflection Technique as his guiding light; without it, who knows how long the process would have taken. In fact, during these attempts, it wouldn't have been surprising if his genes had already broken down.
Time ticked away, minute by minute. Before he knew it, it was nearly noon. A gentle sea breeze blew. Then, in one sudden moment, Seimei's senses jolted as two streams of blood began to flow from his eyes. Abruptly, he opened his eyes.
In the very next instant, his eyes revealed a pair of Mangekyō Sharingan that looked like dark, ominous black suns. Perhaps because his Sharingan hadn't fused with another's eyes, evolving into the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan didn't bring about any drastic changes. But make no mistake—his Sharingan had indeed evolved. Compared to its previous form, the black sun in his eyes now appeared a bit deeper, exuding a stronger intensity. And importantly, Seimei could confirm that the risk of blindness was gone. Now, even if he overused his eyes, they would simply revert to the three-tomoe form instead of causing permanent damage.
"Hahaha!"
The transformation was so exhilarating that Seimei couldn't help but burst into hearty laughter. After a moment, he regained his composure.
"Status board!" he thought, and with that, he activated his skill board. In the next moment, the familiar light-blue, semi-transparent display materialized:

Seimei's eyes locked onto the board, and the first thing that caught his attention was the skyrocketing 'Spirit' stat. He knew that evolving his Sharingan from the Mangekyō stage to the Eternal stage would significantly boost his Spirit attribute—but he hadn't expected a sudden three-point leap. It's worth noting that as these base attributes increase, further improvements become exponentially more difficult. Originally, his Spirit was already at 23—higher than his Constitution. Now it had soared to 26. In terms of mental power, that was more than a doubling—and that's just the raw numbers.
After evolving to the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, Seimei could distinctly feel that every unit of his mental power now delivered one and a half to even twice its previous force. In other words, the qualitative improvement was equally dramatic. He felt somewhat fortunate that he had prioritized boosting his Constitution first. Otherwise, with 26 points in Spirit and only 22 in Constitution, his body might have suffered a mutation from the overwhelming pressure of his mental power.

If it were a benign mutation, that might have been acceptable—but if it turned malignant like Uchiha Itachi's, then things would have been a real nightmare. Fortunately, he had the foresight to balance his stats. Now, with 24 in Constitution versus 26 in Spirit, it still left him a bit uneasy, but it was within acceptable limits.
Additionally, this explosive increase in his Spirit wasn't without its perks. The most obvious being that his capacity to withstand mental pressure had grown substantially. In other words, he could now ramp up the intensity of his daily training without worrying about not being able to manage the surge of chakra. But those were challenges for later—Seimei set them aside for now.
He shifted his gaze downward. In the bloodline section, he could see that even after attaining the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, there was still an evolution progress bar—meaning there was room for further improvement. This reassured him somewhat. And when he thought about the Hashirama cells fused within him, it no longer seemed unusual. After all, fusing the Senju bloodline is the orthodox route for an Uchiha's Sharingan to evolve into the Rinnegan—though most Uchiha simply lack the necessary conditions and aptitude. Now, he could truly say he was following the orthodox path.
But one thing still nagged at him: did the Heart Reflection Technique still have any effect? With that thought, Seimei stopped checking his skill board for a moment, raised his hand to form seals, and activated the Heart Reflection Technique once more. The familiar special chakra, spurred by his stimulation, was generated in his mind again before permeating his eyes. However, he only felt a slight sensation before it dissipated. Worried it might have been a trick of the mind, he tried several more times—but each attempt yielded the same negligible result.
In other words, even now the Heart Reflection Technique could still nudge his Sharingan's evolution, but its impact was minimal. After dozens of consecutive attempts, he managed to eke out only a small increase in proficiency. At this rate, if he wanted to accumulate 100,000 proficiency points to evolve his eyes into the Rinnegan—even if he abandoned physical training and devoted every day solely to it—it would likely take more than a few years. Clearly, brute-forcing it wasn't an option.
"Looks like I'll have to refine it further," he murmured, feeling the Hashirama cells in his body that hadn't yet fully assimilated. Since fusing the Senju bloodline is the orthodox route to evolving the Rinnegan, he obviously couldn't rely solely on stimulating his brain to evolve his Sharingan. Next, he needed to consider having the Heart Reflection Technique also stimulate his body—in combination, that might be the key to further evolving his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. After a brief contemplation, though, he decided to shelve the idea for now.
His eyes shifted downward again, this time landing on the Byakugan stat in the bloodline section. It showed that its evolution progress was more than halfway complete, now at (695/1000). Clearly, relying solely on the 400,000 points of chakra supplied daily by his Seven-Tailed beast couldn't account for such rapid improvement. The current state was actually simple to explain: it was the result of his body's metamorphosis coupled with the evolution of his Sharingan—especially the latter. Just like the Sharingan, the Byakugan is a mental ability. So after his Spirit attribute surged, its transformation was only natural. But that was a one-off—the prospect of using this method for rapid future improvements was virtually impossible. In short, in the short term, further evolution of his Sharingan was extremely difficult, and the closely linked Spirit attribute would naturally stagnate, making any dramatic transformation of the Byakugan unlikely. From here on, he'd just have to grind it out. Fortunately, his chakra reserves were now more than sufficient.
