Chapter 723 - Chapter 724 Nonsense

"That woman deserves to die a thousand deaths!" Dayna shot up from her seat, her white short hair in a tangled mess, the glare in her eye undiminished even by her eyepatch.

Her gaze locked onto the wound on Solomon's body, and even Zero, standing beside the sofa, could feel the alchemical engine in her body overloading with surging heat. In the simple and unfiltered mind of an artificial human, anyone who harmed Solomon was no different than a mortal enemy—and thus must be punished in the most brutal and imaginative ways possible: shredded by chainsaw swords, gunned down by ten thousand explosive rifles for twenty-four hours, impaled on steel thorns, incinerated by flamethrowers, and finally hanged to death. Dayna never considered the fact that any ordinary person would have died halfway through the first punishment. Reality didn't matter to her so long as she could envision and execute vengeance on her beloved master's behalf.

She had sworn a blood oath. She didn't care who Hela was or what role she played in Solomon's plans—anyone who made her beloved master bleed would be punished. That irrepressible rage surged like a tsunami through the sea of her soul, casting shadows in the void like beasts twisting through the deep. The harmony of the soul was disrupted by a dissonant note, as if a heavy hammer had struck the psychic web, sending violent tremors through it. Even the artificial humans far away in the Eternal City felt the stirrings of rage emanating from the void. None of them knew where the fury came from, but the poisonous thoughts rushing through the soul sea were drawing ever closer.

Until the Magus gently touched her cheek with a hand still stained with dried blood.

"Calm down," he said.

The rage dissipated. The blinding light blooming from the depths of the soul sea sent the formless malice fleeing in terror.

In the material world, the adorable artificial maid muttered angrily under her breath as she dashed through the manor halls, clutching a medical kit. She moved so fast that the heels of her tall boots nearly cracked the marble floor. She acted as though Solomon were on his deathbed—pale and bleeding out, a single breath away from the end.

Zero initially wanted to stop her from over-bandaging Solomon's wound, but seeing his lord sighing with helpless amusement and offering no objection, he held back. Especially since Dayna had brought along her oversized infernal dragonscale chainsaw sword, a gift from the witch—Zero wisely chose to keep quiet. However, he did stop her from summoning the full Sisterhood combat squad. Blind retaliation without understanding the enemy's abilities was simply foolish.

"We will have our revenge! No matter where the enemy hides, no matter who they are, they must pay for this atrocity!" the artificial girl hissed.

"You, on the other hand… I don't understand how someone like you can serve as His Majesty's Praetorian. Your first thought wasn't revenge when he was injured?"

"I am His Majesty's tool, not a weapon," Zero replied calmly. "War is only one part of His Majesty's grand plan. Violence is merely my most basic function."

Dayna shot him a furious glare, then turned and stormed out of the bedroom—probably off to retrieve more things she deemed useful for Solomon's recovery. So far, she had already brought in a box of cola, bags of snacks, a blanket, and a wide variety of medical equipment. From the looks of it, she wasn't planning to let him leave bed until fully healed. But her flurry of action wasn't in vain: she not only cleaned up the stubborn dried blood on Solomon's body, but meticulously eliminated any potential leaks of genetic material. Every wiped towel, used cotton swab, and piece of bloody gauze was incinerated under her supervision.

"I didn't know your tongue was that sharp," Solomon said. "You basically just called Dayna an idiot."

"I merely spoke the truth. My lord, do you have any other orders?"

"No, just do as I said earlier. And if you could, open a bag of chips for me. Right now the only thing I'm debating is whether I should have Stephanie acquire Lay's. There's more air in the bag than chips—infuriating."

Solomon's voice was full of life and cheer, perfectly normal. He had already taken alchemical medicine; Dayna was just bandaging him. He'd recover soon enough.

"As long as Dayna doesn't command the Sisterhood on her own, you don't have to stop her."

"You spoil those artificial humans too much," Zero said with a frown. "Their fanaticism is bound to be a problem someday."

"They may be built differently from you, but they are just as loyal. And that's enough for me." Solomon waved dismissively, trying to usher Zero into a portal before Dayna returned. Even if the maid was as volatile as a nuclear warhead, to Solomon she was still a sweet and considerate little maid. That massive chainsaw sword? Just her toy.

He knew very well what the Sisterhood was like inside. Even Tita's little secrets—ones she thought she hid well—were clear to him. As long as Tita didn't let their behavior spill beyond the monastery, Solomon was willing to turn a blind eye. In fact, their actions helped him test the loyalty of newly inducted Eternal City staff.

"Continue your trials. We'll speak again if you return alive. I need to spend some more time with my darling little maid. Dayna's figure was designed by yours truly. You think it's a coincidence her butt is that perfect? That's one of my masterpieces!"

Zero chose to ignore his master's nonsensical babbling. Still, he was glad to see Solomon in high spirits—clearly well enough to joke around. What he didn't know was that Dayna, the first artificial human, had originally been created for exactly what Solomon had just said: a perfect love doll. Combat functionality had been added later. Her stunning body was designed for pure indulgence.

Dayna herself knew it, and she embraced that part of her role. It was only after the witch swooped in first that Dayna's little dreams were crushed.

"Oh right! I nearly forgot something—blame the blood loss for dulling my brain!" Solomon suddenly exclaimed. "Get that nun named Gabby a comfortable job at one of the Eternal City's businesses. Ask her what name she wants to give to Daimon Hellstrom's daughter. That little girl will be raised by the Sisterhood. Gabby and Anna Hellstrom can see her once a month—just enough to keep them from influencing her too much. We've got enough half-demons on Earth as it is. I want the Sisterhood's discipline to suppress her demonic bloodline. I have plans for her."

"Yes, my lord." Zero suspected his master had deliberately saved this part for last, to avoid facing scrutiny from his Praetorian. He didn't believe for a second that Solomon had actually forgotten due to blood loss—but he said nothing. He stepped through the portal just before Dayna returned, raising no objections.

The maid sniffed the faint ionized air and knew the Praetorian had left. A sweet smile blossomed on her face. For artificial humans, there was a mysterious and unbreakable link to Solomon. The master's love was everything. No matter who Zero was, she hated anyone who shared her master's affection.

"My lord, the witches have taken a carriage into town for their parade. Shall I call them back?" she asked with a playful blink. "If they don't return in time, I'd be happy to help out in their place."

"By the time they're back, I'll already be healed. Hela didn't give me too much trouble—no need for drama," Solomon chuckled. "Now, turn on the TV. Switch it to women's high jump or women's tennis. I've got to enjoy some quality viewing before the witches return."
