Chapter 5 - Chapter 5. The great escape and coming escalation

Finding himself in dire straits Eric remembered his father's lessons.

Flashback*

"Errrrrriiiiccckkk. Time for training little man." Eric woke groggily as he watched his goof of a father yell early in the morning.

'Wish mom woke up late too, bet he wouldn't be yelling like he is now.' The boy awoke, wearing a training gi and walked outside with no shoes.

'Part of training the man says. Ughhh, I'll be strong enough to kick his ass someday.' An eight year old Erick woke as he went from his room to the courtyard. His father dancing like a chicken and starting to make cawing noises.

"I'm up. I'm up. Geez old man, your as cooky as always." Eric's father laughed at his son.

"Man you shoulda seen your face when you woke up. You just seemed so annoyed. Hahahahaa."

"You know what time it is .... right?" His father's ebony skin tightening around his face as he went utterly stone cold. Eric shook in fear of his father.

'I hate when he does that, dad looks so scary.' Eric put his head down, afraid of his father.

His father's eyes softened involuntarily. 'I know I'm pushing him, but he has to grow.' Looking at the burn mark across his son's handsome face the man was infuriated but held it.

"Eric." His father's deep voice resonated with him.

"Yes Pa."

"You know this is training, you need to be ready. Your enemies will not avert their gaze from you. Do not let fear control you, let it flow through you so you can turn it into something else."

Forcefully raising his son's head, His father's tense gaze entered his. Biting his lip Eric didn't try to fight the fear he felt, he let it run through him.

Seeing his son taking his words, the man further guided him. "Feel that fear boy. Your body will enter one of three stages. Fight, Flight, or Freeze. That is the technique I will teach you. It is an ancient technique of the Human clan that has only been passed down through certain tribes."

Intensifying the pressure he output, Eric was now barely standing. His heart pounded and his legs shook.

"Feel this pressure, that fear. Use it to enter flight. Put every ounce of your being into driving fear to move your body. It is like your body is a chariot, you are the driver, and the beast that pulls you is fear."

Feeling fear course through every ounce of his being, Eric ran. The boy put everything he had into running and felt his fears course through his being. Eric ran and ran until he reached a certain stone. A large stone filled with writing, a talisman, bearing a large cross symbol.

His father appeared as though he were waiting right there the entire time. "Congratulations Eric, you have just use [Primal Flight]." The boy sobbed endlessly as his father hugged him, his mother watching in the distance. Her fiery amber eyes filled with worry as she looked at her son, yet the man could also see the pride in her eyes.

"They called my boy an outcast, a cursed bastard. How many people could even use such a technique? They will all know my son's name one day, Eric Blaze Trencheon."

Eric held his short sword in one hand and balled up his fist with the other. Feeling fear, he smiled, letting it course through his veins as he performed the second Primal technique.

[Primordial Fight]!!! The boy felt his vision intensify, the world seemed to slow down and his reaction time increasing. He breathed in and out in such a fast pace, the hyenas and centipedes thought he was about to lose his mind to fear.

"Hehehehe, the boy-----" Never getting to finish his sentence, the hyena found the boy's speed to have risen dramatically, unprepared the hyena was stabbed deep in it's neck. Eric already moving from his position back to the whip he had dropped. With a schulch sound, the short sword was yanked out while he moved with everything he had back to the whip.

The centipedes had barely reacted with them first being confused at the now dead hyena and then seeing the boy nearing the whip. Eric switched to [Primal Flight], his speed at it's peak compared to the other two primal moves. The 1st order Bronze ranking centipede approached Eric at a high speed. His whip now in hand Eric used [Primal Fight] his body rearing to go as he immediately started whipping at those coming to him.

Eric could feel his strength hit beyond it's peak. His heart thumping madly while a brazen will to fight the world burned.

Crack, Crack, Crack, Crack

Every yank of his hands Eric was able to crack and heavily damage the head area of the centipedes. With each whip strike, Eric paced himself and took several jumps back in order to prevent himself from becoming overwhelmed.

"zzzzzeeeee, Human! I will feast on your corpse." Seeing the centipedes unable to continue pressuring their target the bronze level centipede started to shine in a dark blue light. Bluish purple wings flapped behind the centipede as it whooshed forth."

Feeling the danger, Eric sheathed his whip in one movement and used his short sword the next. Sparks flew as Eric was lifted of the ground from the sheer force of the opponent's mandibles. The centipede tossed Eric into the air as his senses blared danger.

"Die!!!!" An arrow of poisonous compressed water tore from the creature's mouth at Eric who had nowhere to go.

'If I could just use my whip.' Eric new it was wishful thinking as his weapon was holstered. He couldn't get it out and use it fast enough before the arrow reached him. Once more blocking, he prepared for impact only to feel a soft cloud grab him.

Silver cloud was bloody and injured but yanking a centipede corpse along, she roared as she started killing centipedes.

Atop of Silver's nimbus, Eric breathed a sigh of relief before jumping off. Using the trees, the boy thwiped, yanked, and ran along the trees as he unleashed barrage after barrage of attacks on the low 1st order centipedes.

Still using it's technique, the centipede dodge some of the attacks by gliding around. Yet Eric kept at it as he did his best to hit two spots. One on the head and the other at the antenna base. His whip found purchase on the head of the creature but it only caused white marks.

Undeterred, Eric kept at it as the centipede remained locked down. The attacks came nonstop, threatening to crush it's antennas. Irritated the creature once more launched a poisonous arrow.

Unlike the last time the centipede flew close enough to get in range, though sacrificing multiple hits to it's exoskeleton. It's head bore a deep white mark on the carapace.

"ZZZeeee, [Centipede's Flying Arrow]!!!" This time the arrow tore through the wind leaving Eric no chance but to block with his sword.

Bang, Bang, Bang

Eric flew through four trees before rolling on the floor, his vision blurry as he felt his chest penetrated with a poisonous arrow.

Eric's vision went blurry as he heard his brother's roar. Silver Cloud sent the centipede flying as she called his nimbus and ran.
