Riven's POV
I had no idea what I would've done if it weren't for both my uncles holding me back.
"Let me go," I said in a strained voice.
Never before had I been consumed by anger like this—to the point where I couldn't think straight. All I wanted was to tear that man apart for daring to touch what was mine. I didn't know where this sudden sense of possessiveness came from, but I knew it had to be the mate bond.
But I had one pressing question: why was I the only one feeling it?
The woman hadn't even turned around, not once, even with me standing so close to her.
As if reading my thoughts, Uncle Zeke said, "She's human."
That didn't make me feel any better. In fact, all the excitement from earlier vanished in an instant. I turned slowly toward Uncle Zeke with a confused expression, and he simply nodded, then shifted his gaze back to the woman still wrapped in another man's arms.
How had I missed it? She was indeed human. Her heartbeat said it all.
