Chapter 329 - Chapter 326: Five Years

This was indeed a problem.

If the Hawk God really was, as the Ancient One said, just a clone of a powerful being hiding a big secret, then even if the clone destroyed itself and couldn't send any messages, the main body would definitely notice the loss. There's no way it wouldn't investigate.

If that's the case, then it would definitely find its way to Earth one day.

"Don't worry. This being must be from another dimension... Earth isn't a place they can just come to whenever they want," the Ancient One said, noticing the concern on Josh's face.

As she spoke, a strong and confident energy rose around her.

This was the Sorcerer Supreme. This was the Ancient One!

She was right. With someone like her around, except for a few of the most dangerous, no dimensional god could come to Earth without first bowing at the door.

Seeing that, Josh felt reassured.

Once the power infusion ceremony was over, aside from the 3,000+ soldiers staying behind to get used to their new powers and the priests continuing to watch over the trapped souls of the four dimensional gods, everyone else returned to their duties.

The Ancient One sent Josh back to Chicago and then returned to Kamar-Taj.

After that, Josh became quiet again. During this time, he also connected with a new world.

But after learning about this new place, he immediately lost interest.

It turned out to be the world of the movie The Day After Tomorrow, and the person the beacon had connected with was Sam Hall, the son of the movie's main character—the guy who braved the disaster to save his girlfriend in New York.

This world had little value to Josh, so he just threw in some super-soldier serums and some standard Ouroboros gear. In exchange, he got some gold from Sam and left it at that.

As for where Sam got the gold—simple. In the frozen-over New York, all the banks and jewelry stores were wide open for someone like Sam, armed with Ouroboros equipment.

And unlike a lot of "pure-hearted" movie heroes, this guy wasn't too concerned with morality. He quickly collected a pile of gold for the deal.

Josh didn't care what kind of future this kid would create in his own world.

By 1952, Josh started to feel like the system was obsessed with post-apocalyptic worlds—or maybe his luck had just run out.

Right after The Day After Tomorrow came 2012.

This time, the beacon connected with Sasha, the bodyguard of the rich Russian Yuri.

By the time the trade happened, the catastrophes of 2012 had already begun.

Even Josh couldn't do much—he gave Sasha a space shuttle and a few robots.

That shuttle and its supplies were enough to keep a thousand people alive in space for months.

With Josh's help, they easily survived the month-long global flood.

After the waters receded, Sasha built a new base in Africa and lived quite comfortably.

In 1953, Josh's luck hit a new low.

The Truman Show. Even less value.

This time, the target was Truman himself.

Josh not only helped Truman realize the truth about his fake world and escape it, but also gave that world a new kind of hero—one without any limits.

By 1954, after some time of waiting, Josh connected to The Martian.

This time the trading partner was the main character, Mark.

This time, Josh didn't even bother after sending over a life-support pod and enough supplies to last a few years.

Finally, with the arrival of 1955, Josh's luck turned around. He connected to a new and much more valuable world for trade—Pacific Rim.

And his trade partner turned out to be... the sweetie?

Well, to be exact, it was Mako Mori of the Asian Shao Corporation.

However, the time Josh connected was set during Pacific Rim 1, which was ten years before her full appearance in Pacific Rim 2.

At this point, Mako wasn't yet the mature and powerful woman from the second movie—she was just a cold and quiet young girl who hadn't officially taken over the family business.

"Mako, I've learned a bit about the situation in your world," Josh said after their first conversation. "But I'm going to need some kaiju tissue samples to study before I can figure out the best way to help. Can you do that?"

"No problem. My father told me that our Shao Corporation is one of the official research teams studying kaiju. We should have plenty of tissue samples in storage. I'll find a way to get them," Mako replied calmly.

Although she was only sixteen, Mako was a genius and the only daughter of the company president. She had been involved in company projects since she was young and knew her company well.

Due to the constant Kaiju attacks in her world, she had matured quickly and was very reasonable.

Her talk with Josh went smoothly.

"Well then, we'll leave it at that for now. I have some other things to take care of. Get back to me as soon as you have the Kaiju tissue samples," Josh said, pleased with her quick and straightforward answer, and ended the call.

After hanging up, he told his robot assistant to let Ophelia in.

He wasn't making an excuse when he said he had other matters—his robot had just messaged him that Ophelia had arrived.

"Why are you here at this hour?" Josh asked as Ophelia entered.

It was already past 10 PM. Normally Josh wouldn't see guests or do work this late unless it was really important.

"I just got the news—the movement in the South has begun," Ophelia said, placing a file in front of him.

"It's finally starting—earlier than I expected," Josh said with a slight smile after reading it. It wasn't anything major—just that trouble was starting in the South with the Black community. The timing was earlier than in his original world.

In his old world, the civil rights movement basically started in December 1955 with the bus boycott.

But in this world, because of Josh's influence, the global economy and technology had advanced faster, leading to a greater labor shortage.

This also caused the black population to grow even faster.

So now, at the beginning of 1955, riots had already begun in the South.

And just like in the other world, Martin Luther King Jr. began to emerge as a leader.

"In that case, it's time for the group to start," Josh said with a smile.

Now that the civil rights movement had begun, it was the perfect time to officially launch the industrial robots.
