Chapter 298 - 298. I Want These People

Maester Adrian worried that the advanced medicine would not be learned properly at the lumber mill, but Jason Liu assured him that the right people would be there to teach it.

"Lord Jason, what do you mean by the right person?" Maester Adrian put down the knife and fork in his hand and looked at him suspiciously.

Of course, Jason Liu wouldn't tell him that he was a Bachelor of Science. He just said vaguely that the man was very skilled in medicine and was studying the medical information he had brought.

Judging from the high salary Master Jason was offering—providing food, clothing, housing, transportation, and even paying 50 silver deer per month to the bachelor, 30 silver deer to the assistant bachelor, and 20 silver deer to the apprentice—Bachelor Adrian did not question it much.

Hadn't the eyes of some assistant bachelors and apprentices, who thought they could never obtain a bachelor's qualifications, lit up after hearing that they could receive such high pay?

Jason Liu intended to let these assistant bachelors and apprentices get used to the environment for a while. Once they realized the favorable treatment they were receiving, he believed they would willingly choose to work for him.

Maester Adrian and Maester Abel were arranged to live in private rooms within the castle, while the other assistant bachelors and apprentices were moved to the castle barracks, where they could still live comfortably.

Instructing Martha to have the servants take care of these guests, Jason Liu returned to the modern world.

Coming out of the warehouse, Jason Liu soon saw the newly purchased land nearby, where construction had already begun.

He called Oliver to ask about the purchase of pens, paper, and soap, and finally urged him to have the company deliver the remaining orders as soon as possible.

"Mr. Liu, carriage factory have started transporting 100 large and 100 small carts to the warehouse. They should be delivered by tonight," Oliver replied quickly.

"Good. Have your purchasing department pay attention to storage and receipt, and keep urging them to make and deliver the remaining 100 carriages."

Jason Liu was quite satisfied with the delivery speed, but even this wasn't enough. "Manager Oliver, let the Carriage Factory know that we will continue purchasing four-wheeled carriages—potentially in the thousands. Tell them to expand production and be ready."

Hearing the boss's words, Oliver couldn't help sweating. Could this retro carriage really sell in such large quantities?

Although he had doubts, the boss's orders had to be followed. "Yes, Mr. Liu. I'll contact the Carriage Factory and tell them to speed up production and delivery."

After getting the reply, Jason Liu hung up and then called Lin Xiaohan. The two young lovers chatted, and Jason Liu explained that he was busy with business lately and probably wouldn't be able to visit the company for a while.

Lin Xiaohan expressed understanding. After all, Fusion Trading was a new enterprise with no stable source of income yet. Of course, the boss had to work hard.

Women preferred men who worked hard.

Her boyfriend was putting his all into his career—of course, she was proud.

After reassuring his girlfriend, Jason Liu transported a batch of pens, paper, and soap that had been purchased in the warehouse to the lumberyard side.

In recent days, Jason Liu had been busy with assistant bachelors and apprentices who had completed their studies, sending them to the lumber mill. While continuing their studies in medicine under the bachelor, they also served as teachers at the local school.

They were mainly responsible for teaching 500 children to read, write, and perform simple calculations.

More than a dozen assistant bachelors and apprentices willing to go to the lumberyard—led by the two eldest, Maester Adrian and Maester Abel—formally joined the lumberyard's hospital and school.

"Bachelor?"

Seeing the familiar old bachelor at the lumberyard hospital, Abel nearly dropped his jaw. "You... why are you here?"

Bachelor Qyburn's old face showed its usual kind smile. He hadn't expected to see an acquaintance here. "I remember you—you're Abel , who was with Maester Adrian, right?"

Assistant Bachelor Abel immediately bowed and saluted respectfully. "Master of Science, I didn't expect to see you here. It's a great honor to have your guidance.

"Although you were deprived of your bachelor's qualifications, I know your medical knowledge is unmatched in the entire academy!"

Also from the medical school, Abel deeply admired the Bachelor of Science, who was so knowledgeable in medicine.

As for the so-called unethical medical research,Abel believed that the prisoners bought by the Bachelor of Science were already receiving the best possible fate—being used as experimental subjects in the pursuit of medical knowledge.

Of course, some apprentices still worried that being associated with Bachelor Qyburn might draw criticism from the academy.

But the 20 silver deer per month being offered by Master Jason made these young apprentices hesitant to walk away.

"Everyone, please rest assured," Jason Liu said. "Bachelor Qyburn is now loyal to me and my house. You are only following him to learn advanced medical skills. It's all in the name of noble medical knowledge. If Citadel criticizes you for this, I will take responsibility as the head of House East."

Jason Liu's gaze swept across the dozen or so assistant bachelors and apprentices present, and he solemnly gave his assurance. "I'm willing to recruit all of you as members of House East. You've seen for yourselves: under my command, this vast lumberyard needs many knowledgeable people like you to help manage the hospital, school, shops, and more. All require people who can read, write, and do arithmetic.

"So, don't worry about your future. Frankly, staying with me is much better than staying in the old town academy and competing with hundreds of others for rare bachelor's qualifications!"

Originally, Jason Liu hadn't planned to recruit them so soon. But to ease their worries about associating with Bachelor Qyburn, he simply revealed his intentions directly.

Sure enough, many of the assistant bachelors and apprentices were visibly moved upon hearing a young, wealthy noble personally solicit their help.

However, as newcomers still under Maester Adrian's supervision and unsure about House East, they didn't dare speak up just yet.

"It's alright," Jason Liu said gently. "You don't need to rush to give me an answer. Work here for a while. I believe you'll make a wise choice in time."

He wasn't in a hurry. With a reassuring smile, he spoke calmly to put their minds at ease.

Then he instructed McCann to show the group around the entire lumberyard. Jason Liu and Bachelor Keben walked out of the hospital together and stood at the entrance, watching the workers in the distance pour concrete for new roads.
