The weapon he cared about most—500 steel swords—had exhausted the workers of IronForge Props, but they finally completed production.
The composite pulley bows were also complete, totaling 150 units. Each bow was matched with 30 stainless steel arrows, making 4,500 arrows in total.
Ethan charged him a total of 1,095,000 yuan, with the pricing as follows: 1,500 yuan per steel sword, 2,000 yuan per composite pulley bow, and 10 yuan per arrow.
As for the money, Jason Liu didn't need to worry. Fusion Trading had already transferred the funds to IronForge Props.
The spears he ordered, however, couldn't be produced yet because the shafts hadn't been delivered from the wood processing factory.
Once the hundreds of custom-made 2-meter spear shafts arrived, the high-carbon steel spearheads could be quickly mounted, allowing rapid production of several hundred spears.
Jason Liu instructed the continued production of steel swords, composite pulley bows, and spears, all of which were to be shipped to the warehouse at the Westeros lumberyard.
He then asked Jon and the others to distribute the steel swords to the new recruits, who had been training for just over a month. They had previously used wooden practice swords, but now, for the first time, they received real weapons.
The young soldiers caressed the icy blades with excitement written all over their faces.
As for the bows and arrows, Jason Liu selected 150 soldiers with prior experience in hunting and archery from among the 800 recruits to serve as part of the 200-man archery corps.
In the future, 150 of them would use pulley bows for long-range attacks.
The selected soldiers found the composite pulley bows novel. Unlike the traditional Westerosi wooden bows, these were made of steel and featured a more complex mechanism.
Jason Liu personally taught them how to use the pulleys. In fact, it was quite simple—just learn the functions of the key parts, then draw and shoot.
Very simple!
These soldiers were already familiar with bows and arrows. After all, many northern folk hunt regularly; the barren land doesn't yield enough wheat to survive otherwise.
Jason left the 150 archers to practice on their own, then called McCann back and placed him in charge of leading the archery unit.
McCann was thrilled. Over the next few days, he led his archers in continuous archery practice just outside the Wolf Forest.
Though their aim wasn't yet precise, the labor-saving design of the pulley bows allowed them to shoot rapidly.
Accuracy would improve gradually with training.
Jason Liu didn't demand perfection. His troops were young—nearly all under the age of 20—and still had room to grow. There was time.
After resolving the matter of "having or not having" weapons, the next goal was refinement.
With weapons taken care of, Jason Liu turned his attention to other matters.
First, the 1,000 freight carriages ordered from carriage factory were in a rush. The carriage factory Oliver had contacted worked overtime for more than ten days and completed 400 carriages; the remaining 600 were still being manufactured.
Four hundred carriages were enough for now.
In addition, the cement and steel bars Jason had instructed Oliver to purchase were also transported into Warehouse No. 2.
A total of 100,000 sets of blue labor protection suits had been bought.
One hundred tons of flour, cooking oil, and salt were easily procured and had already been sent to Warehouse No. 2.
That evening, Jason Liu transported the 400 completed freight wagons to the logging field's warehouse and had Dicken oversee moving them one by one to the concrete square in front of the canteen, with help from the soldiers.
The 2,000 draft horses purchased earlier from Stark's stables now came in handy.
Each freight wagon needed two horses, so 800 horses were assigned to pull the 400 wagons. The remaining 1,200 horses were reserved for wooden carriages, which could at least transport people.
The flour, oil, and salt bought were loaded onto the wagons and taken directly to Saylor Lake to serve as provisions for the journey.
Of course, in addition to flour, oil, and salt, dozens of large iron pots stored at the logging site had to be brought along.
Onions, cabbage, and carrots—which could be stored for long periods—had already been bought from the Riverlands in advance. These, too, were loaded onto the wagons headed for Saylor Lake.
After all, feeding tens of thousands of people was no trivial matter.
Thankfully, Jason Liu had assigned all the logistical minutiae to Maester Mowen and his apprentice assistants.
With Jon and the soldiers recruiting people nonstop, Bud, McCann, and Marb—who had returned—began selecting workers for the Saylor Lake project.
Jason Liu gave the original lumberyard workers an option: anyone willing to follow him to build the port at Saylor Lake would have their monthly wages raised from 10 silver stags to 12. They'd also receive improved masonry housing in the future.
Jason had even considered schooling for the workers' children.
After Boris and Maester Adrian were relocated to Saylor Lake, Adrian's dozen apprentices were tasked not only with researching medicine but also taking turns teaching the children.
News spread that the Easter family's Starfire Castle would be built on the opposite shore of Saylor Lake, making it their primary stronghold in the future.
The lumberyard workers were immediately moved. Thanks to Jason Liu's good reputation and the generous treatment he offered, they respected and trusted him, willing to follow him as permanent residents under House Easter.
Knowing Jason Liu planned to build Starfire Castle and settle in Saylor Lake, many saw it as a great opportunity.
Jason even had people circulate the various benefits of moving across the lake, which further increased interest among the workers.
Out of the 2,000 official lumberjacks, more than 1,200 chose to follow Jason Liu and help construct the port at Saylor Lake.
That meant 1,200 families.
The remaining 700 or so chose to stay at the lumberyard, content with their stable lives.
Jason wasn't surprised. Having 1,200 transformed workers willing to start fresh at Saylor Lake had already exceeded his expectations.
From the 7,000 new workers recruited over the past month, Jason selected the strongest families—ideally with parents, spouses, and children—to join the Saylor Lake project.
Young singles were mostly assigned to stay and work at the lumberyards.
Those who brought their families to Saylor Lake were encouraged to settle there fully and become Jason Liu's most loyal subjects..
