Chapter 344 - 344. A Different World

Lila and Noah cheered with delight, running around the spacious and luxurious living room.

"Oh, my, it's just beautiful," Jason's mother said, her face glowing with joy as she looked around the villa, admiring every detail.

Jason's father remained silent, his expression stern, but his eyes held a deep sense of relief and pride. He never imagined his son would build such a life for himself, buying a large villa in a first-tier city. He knew how expensive housing in the big cities had become. Most young people couldn't even afford a down payment on a regular apartment without emptying their parents' life savings.

"Dad, Mom, sis, Lucas, let me show you around," Jason said with a smile. "There's a swimming pool on the roof. You can go for a swim to relax!"

He led them through the villa, ending the tour at the large pool on the top floor.

"Wow, what a big pool!" Lila exclaimed, jumping excitedly near the edge, her small face flushed with joy. "Uncle, I want to swim! Mom, change my clothes, quickly! I want to learn how to swim."

Noah, being younger, held tightly to his mother's hand, too timid to go near the water's edge.

Jason pointed to the changing room by the pool, where he had already stocked more than ten sets of men's and women's swimsuits, including a small one for Lila. "Sis, there are swimsuits for everyone in there, for the kids and the adults. You can all get changed!"

"Let's go, let's go!" his sister said, handing her son to their mother before taking her daughter into the changing room.

"Dad, let's go change, too," Lucas said with a smile. "It's a hot day, a swim would be perfect!"

Jason's father coughed, looking a little uncomfortable. "You... you go ahead. I won't get in."

Lucas tried to persuade him, but his father-in-law just shook his head, too embarrassed to join in.

"don't mind your father-in-law," Jason's mother said, shooting her husband an exasperated look. "He's just old-fashioned and stubborn! You go on and change, don't worry about him." She then took her grandson to get changed as well.

Lucas smiled, knowing his father-in-law's prideful nature. He gave up trying to persuade him and went to change into his swimsuit.

A few minutes later, Jason finished ordering their dinner over the phone. He came back up to find his sister, mother, niece, and nephew all splashing happily in the pool. His father was sitting alone by the edge, watching them.

"Dad, why aren't you swimming?" Jason asked. "It's so hot, it would feel great!"

His father had taken out a cigarette, but after glancing at the pristine rooftop area, he seemed too embarrassed to light it. He put it back in his pocket when Jason spoke to him. "You don't need to worry about me," he said, a trace of unnaturalness on his dark face. "Go do what you need to do. I'll just sit here and rest."

Jason looked at his family playing in the water, then back at his father, who clearly wanted to join them but refused to admit it. He couldn't help but laugh. "Dad, come on, just go for a quick swim to cool off. We're all family here, what's there to be embarrassed about?"

His father's face reddened at his son's teasing. He glared at him. "Go on, get out of here. I don't feel like swimming right now. Stop bothering me."

Jason shrugged and told him there was a new swimsuit in the men's changing room, in case he changed his mind. With that, he went downstairs to wait for the food delivery.

Downstairs, he chatted with Lin Xiaohan, and they decided on a time and place for their families to meet the next day, choosing a nice hotel. Soon after, the dinner he had ordered was delivered. He set out the dozen different dishes in the dining room and then called his family down from the rooftop to eat.

"Jason, have you and Xiaohan's parents agreed on a time to meet tomorrow?" his mother asked while peeling a shrimp for her young grandson.

Jason was eating a spicy crayfish, blowing on it to cool it down. "Huhu... yes, Mom, don't worry. Xiaohan and I agreed. We'll meet tomorrow at noon. I've already reserved a table."

"Then don't stay up too late tonight," his father chimed in. "Get a good night's sleep so we can be prepared to meet your in-laws." He was happily eating slow-roasted pork, stuffing it into a steamed bun. In his words, there was nothing better.

Seeing his parents' simple tastes, Jason knew they were probably still being frugal. "Dad, Mom, our family is rich now. You don't have to save so much. Buy whatever you want." He pulled out his phone. "I'm going to transfer a million yuan to your card. Just spend it however you like."

"Don't transfer any money!" his mother quickly protested, shaking her head. "The last few hundred thousand you gave us is still in the account! Your father and I are in the village all day, we don't go anywhere. We barely spend anything."

"It's okay, Mom. This is for you and Dad. I know you don't spend much, but I want you to have it." He ignored her protests and operated his mobile banking app, transferring the money directly to her account.

A moment later, his mother's phone buzzed with a bank text message. Looking at the balance of over one million yuan, she complained, though her voice was full of pride. "Look at this child, he doesn't listen at all. He just had to transfer it."

His sister and Lucas ate quietly, not getting involved. The last time, Jason had given them each a 20% stake in his new ecological farm, an investment already worth over four million yuan. After an initial five million, Jason had poured another five million into the project to ensure construction proceeded on schedule and to cover the costs of livestock, feed, and wages.

His sister, being a strong-willed woman, had told him firmly that he couldn't invest any more money. She felt like she and her husband were taking too much advantage of her younger brother's generosity and threatened to quit if he insisted. Knowing her character, Jason had no choice but to agree. The ten million was more than enough to get the farm running until it could generate its own income.

Seeing his sister and brother-in-law eating quietly, Jason turned to them. "Sis, Lucas, how is the ecological farm coming along?"

"The contracted 82 acres have been fenced off with barbed wire," Lucas replied. "And we've already tilled the soil so we can plant next spring."
