Chapter 41 - Chapter 40

Kimura unexpectedly looked better with his hair combed, it was split above his left eye. His black and purple tipped hair made him stand out just a bit more than the rest. I can't believe I'm getting wrapped in this mess… he thought, sighing as he walked out of the changing room. Once he did, most of the girls already gazed over at him as some began talking amidst themselves.

He didn't let it get to him as he just started his now forced job. The first table he walked up to were four girls talking between each other, Kimura didn't want to be rude as he waited momentarily.

"What would you fine ladies like?" Kimura said in a soft tone, quite unusual from his normal cold tone.

This made them stop talking and think about their order as Kimura stood there, putting on a soft smile while he waited.

Just hurry up and order…the faster I get these done the faster I can leave…

Kimura kept his façade up as they then began their order; He took the orders on a small notebook as he walked away from them afterwards. Kimura walks up to another group table; this time there were three girls who were sitting around. Unlike the last group they all noticed him when he walked up to the table.

"What would you fine ladies like…?"

He softly spoke once more, one of them staring with a light blush as the other two looked at the menu. The girl blinked and snapped out of it as she quickly grabbed her menu. Kimura stood idly by once again as they began their orders. After writing it down, he gave the girls a soft smile before disappearing behind some red curtains.

He hung up both orders for the students' cooking. "Thanks Kimura" one of them thanked him for the gratitude as Kimura just nodded before heading back out again. He then noticed a commotion at a nearby table with one of his classmates, a group of ladies were giving one of his classmates a hard time.

"I ordered number 3, what can't you get right man."

"Yeah, I ordered number 6, it was twenty minutes ago!" the girl shouted.

"I-I understand but-" The classmate stuttered.

"Like hell you do!" One of them swiped their arm across the table, knocking off salt, black pepper, condiments, and neatly made artisan flowers in a flower pot.

The flower pot crashed to the ground as the lively and bustling noise of the classroom abruptly fell silent. Kimura was going to help out his classmate but surprisingly another figure stepped in. The figure stood with their arms crossed right beside their classmate.

"Hey fuckheads, don't ruin the lively vibes, otherwise I'm gonna have you kick your asses out by force. No if, ands or buts." Their voices were cold and filled with threats.

"Or what? We've been here for almost half an hour and yet-"

Suddenly a shadow covered the girl's mouth as it was a clear indication that it was Ayameko who came to confront the troublemakers. Ayameko wasn't planning to get herself involved because she wanted to keep a low profile, but someone convinced her to do something.

"I won't tell you twice bitches, leave or I will make you both leave…" Ayameko's cold tone and piercing gaze shot at the two girls.

It felt like a harsh snowstorm came into the classroom with Ayameko's sudden presence as the temperature physically lowered by almost 15 degrees. No one wanted to stand up to Ayameko for either the girls or for their own safety as everyone stayed in their seats and the others stayed far from Ayameko.

"Ayameko, that's enough." Kimura shouted at her.

Ayameko turned to look at Kimura as he felt the cold gaze come at him, but he's been hit with that gaze more than anyone else has, comically building an immunity to it slowly. He walked over to Ayameko as she tensed up slightly, expecting a fight.

Instead of confronting her, Kimura turned his attention to the two girls. "Would you two girls please kindly leave, we're sorry that our service wasn't up to your expectations." Kimura said in a warmly kind tone. This threw Ayameko off by a mile because of this sudden talk she wasn't used to, seemingly dumbfounded for almost 5 seconds.

"O-Oh s-sure…"

The girls stuttered with small mumbles and nods as they left. Kimura's unexpected tenderness and warm tone felt like the temperature had returned back to normal, counterbalancing Ayameko's cold tone.

"Are…you even real?" She asked dumbfounded.

"Pays off to be nice sometimes Ice Queen…" He said rather coldly to Ayameko walking past her.

"I'll kick your fucking face in if you call me that again." She responded with visible anger and disgust in her eyes.

Kimura turns his attention to his visibly shaken classmate, patting him on the shoulder and patting off his suit. "Hey don't be so shaky, go take a break alright. We got it from here." Kimura reassured him. "O-Oh…alright then Kimura…" he said as he walked past him and towards the red curtains.

The classroom slowly went back to its lively self as Kimura stayed for another half hour. While he stayed he saw many students, teachers, parents and siblings come and go. He was expecting his dad to come after that call but his hope began to waver more and more. Just then, he saw a scarred hand grasp at the edge of the doorframe and a tall man with black, messy hair walked in. It was Kimura Kenji.

"Dad…?" Kimura stared and said subconsciously.

"Hey Makoto, I'm not too late am I?" Kenji responded

He takes a step into the classroom as he sits down in an empty seat and table, looking at the neat table cloth on top of the desk. Kenji was surprised at how well thought out and intricate this was as he remembered when he had to do a school festival.

"This really brings back memories." Kenji muttered to himself.
