Chapter 16 - Getting The Last Needed Recruiters

"Okay, we should be near the base of the Imunlaukr Clan. So hopefully we can reach an agreement, or an alliance."

Chara spoke as they were walking on a dirt road to the path to Liyue, and at the same time not really going to Liyue.

"So, Chara, is there a reason why you picked us?"

Scharlach asked Chara, their other companion, Ventus, who was beside them, wondering why he was also there with the two as well.

"Yes, actually, it's because I believe you and Ventus are good negotiators. I've seen you both talking to everyone about things they all had trouble deciding. Plus, you both did reach a conclusion together, which got everyone in agreement. I barely manage to get the whole army to not start a full-on brawl."

"Chara… That was for those who wanted Gunnhildr's dish, pizza. And in the end, Barbatos got the last slice."

Ventus deadspan of Chara using last night's dinner as an example. Still, it was a miracle for him to have Frisk who taught Gunnhildr how to make that delicious pizza pie.

"So, what you meant is that we're the best that can actually make an alliance possible."

Scharlach immediately knew the reason why, and that it was confirmed by Chara's silence to his question. He sighed as he didn't say anything else as he looked at the area.

"If that blizzard storm was still happening, then I would have recognized the road in an instant; it took me a moment to realize this was the same area."

He spoke as the area looked quite pleasant without the cold wasteland that once plagued this region. Ventus and/ Chara nodded in agreement as they experienced surviving that wasteland.

"This just proves just how you appreciate the sun giving you warmth, a star capable of melting all that snow away is just… Wait!"

Chara stopped as the other two stopped as well; the three of them saw, in their direction, a group of people on the same dirt path as them. But more importantly, each of them wore clothing that matched the nobility and expressed strength.

"Looks like the descriptions that Istaroth told us. We found the Imunlaukr Clan!"

Ventus spoke in a normal tone to not alert the clan. And the fact that it was only Chara, Ventus, and Scharlach, nobody else, not even Frisk or Barbatos, was with them. It does seem stupid not to have others accompany the three of them. But the fact that they needed to ensure that everyone was perfectly trained as the whole army was on a time limit of how long they could continue evading Decarabian's notice of Amos' disappearance and his lack of followers.

Istaroth could distract him as long as she could, but she couldn't do it forever. Mainly because one day Decarabian will eventually notice that what he is being distracted by will be the same, like an ordinary visit to his lover. Amos informed her of when the God of Storms will check up on her, and boy it was like a daily visit.

She was lucky that he didn't truly notice she was gone for a whole week until Istaroth made him think he just met her today. But it wouldn't last every day, so everyone was being prepared before the time was right to invade Mondstadt City.

"Okay, guys, stick to the plan, and just act normal."

With that, Chara stayed silent, as did the other two; the three of them walked past the clan, and the clan did the same. But before anyone took a step further away from each other, a man from the clan stopped in his tracks and turned to the three.

"Pardon me, boy, but I've noticed your outfit is different from Mondstadt. Are you a foreigner?"

He asked Chara, as he was intrigued by their choice of clothing. Chara simply smiled as they responded.

"Yes, I am a foreigner. My name is Chara Dreemurr. You can say I am somewhat of a Mondstadt citizen, at least in the one in Cider Lake."

"Cider Lake? Wait, you're a citizen there? Not in the city where that tyrant is ruling."

"Nope! Not even a worshiper of his. You see, we're planning on a rebellion against the God of Storms. We have gathered an army to fight against him, but we believe we are still lacking pure powerhouses. Right now I would say we have… Maybe three and four potential ones along with a wind spirit. And we have heard how your clan is the best when it comes to fighting gods."

The clan now looks intrigued by what Chara said, some even looking hopeful that their home will finally be liberated from Decarabian. As much as they wished they could have done it themselves, the clan is aware that both Decarabian and Boreas are so powerful that it could take a whole nation just to beat a god.

To hear that an army was planning to rebel was very interesting to them.

"Hold on, I'm sure you are aware that gods aren't so easy to hurt. As much as we don't like gods, we are very well aware of how powerful they are and that they don't have to worry about other gods."

A woman from the clan spoke up, saying her thoughts of her clan agree, honestly, it makes sense if you think about it, gods having divine powers to not even be afraid of humans. But for Chara, it was a different story.

"Hey, from where I came from, there's a saying. "Even gods bleed, nobody is invincible, any living being bleeds even a little bit." That quote made me see that even the most powerful gods cannot keep saying they'll remain untouchable. It's like you're admitting that nothing can truly hurt a divine. Like Decarabian."

Their words stunned everyone, even Ventus and Scharlach who hadn't heard a quote that said that. But at the same time, it was proven that Boreas was the example of that, even if Chara was powered up by blessings. The main fact that a mortal can cause damage, even if it is a little bit, just seeing a scratch can prove that nothing is untouchable.

The man suddenly looks at Chara with admiration, heck even a hint of respect.

"Mr. Dreemurr, you've stated something that we've been doing, as well as letting us know what it truly means. We have recently fought a god from Liyue. We have gained the strength of Morax despite our ancestors in our generation not liking gods. Even so, he still provided us with the power to truly hurt a god, a god that threatens a god's land and his people.

That made us believe there are kind gods out there that truly care about humanity. I can truly see that you're doing everything you can to ensure this rebellion can achieve victory. Mr. Dreemurr, if you wish, could we sign a contract? We wish to join your army to free our home from that tyrant."

The clan voices their agreement to the man's declaration, even as far as to cheer for Chara. Ventus and Scharlach's eyes widened of what Chara said quickly got the clan to sign a partnership to further increase the rebellion. It made the two question why they were even here in the first place if Chara was already making this easily quick.

But before they could say anything, Chara shoved both of them to the clan with a smile on their face.

"We can absolutely sign a contract, but I'm still learning about Mondstadt. These two are born Monstadt citizens. You all can speak to each other about what should be put on the contract."

The man agreed as he didn't have any objections to that, as he does recognize both Ventus and Scharlach; he even greeted them as the two greeted him back. And with no hesitation, the negotiation began as both sides agreed on the terms and such. A little rejection of a few things, but overall it was simple.

A few clan members spoke with Chara, wishing to hear of how Mondstadt had been doing while they'd been away as well as how far the rebellion had come during its rising. Their respect for Chara increased when they told them how they and Frisk had defeated Boreas, as the clan wondered why it wasn't snowing anymore.

It even made a few envious that it took a day for the two Dreemurrs to beat a god while it took the clan days of effort and sweat to beat a single god. But still, it was quite a feat for the two as it proves that Chara and Frisk are stronger than everyone else.

But there was something that made Chara look at the clan with an intriguing look. Morax blessed the Imunlaukr Clan with Geo abilities, but just by the looks, it seems they got the hang of it. Maybe even better than everyone else who is from Mondstadt. Chara wonders if, after this whole war, they'll go to Liyue with Frisk to not only befriend Morax but also gain his Geo blessing.

So far that is only an if. Plus, the thought of a blessing reminded them of what actually happened to the group of people who gained Istaroth's blessing. As it turns out, instead of feeling confident to join the rebellion or even think of rebelling. They use her blessing as a means to disappear into time to not deal with Decarabian.

So yeah, no one is ever going to find the group anytime soon, or even later. Istaroth mentions that she'll revoke the blessing she gave out as it wasn't what she had in mind for the group she blessed. And she'll be even more careful of not giving out her blessing so willingly.

So after a few minutes, the contract was signed. As it turns out, Morax decided to make contracts to ensure those who signed the contract would truly follow the conditions of the contract. As the god who declares contracts as an important value that shouldn't be broken by any means.

There was even a quote that the God of Contracts himself declared when he made contracts available "Ones who break their contracts shall suffer the Wrath of the Rock." Just hearing that from a god who survived so many battles would make anyone not want to break such a declaration.

But one of the clan members said someone from another nation carelessly broke a contract they made with someone to see if what people said was true. It was stupid to do such a thing, as the person was immediately suffering as a divine rock came falling down and crushed the contract breaker.

Which happened hours ago which made Chara recall the recent earthquake that was quite different from the others. As well as feeling the impact of judgment and anger during that earthquake. It made them swear that they'll never break the contract, depending on what it says, and speak with everyone else about it.

"Well, everything seems to be in place. Are you all going to continue to stay here? If you wish, we can welcome you to our building city. And that city will be your new home either today or tomorrow, maybe even someday."

Chara asked the clan to accompany them back as each of them seemed eager to visit the city that is away from the God of Storms. They all agree, but ask the three of them to help them pack up everything in their base, as everyone helps pack up.

Once everything was packed, Chara was surprised to see the clan gathering horses as they hadn't seen one ever since they were here. It felt strange for Chara to see an animal so familiar as the one from their home. It was quite nostalgic as they petted a horse as the horse let out a neigh of affection.

It made them wish they had a carrot with them to feed the horse. They couldn't help but ask something.

"So you all have been using these horses to get around? Where did you find them? I doubt the snowstorm from before would make them want to stay."

"Well, we found them while we were in Liyue, these horses were badly injured after the attack of an enemy god. We help these helpless animals get back on their feet with the care we have, and in turn, they become loyal to us. Even the Geo Archon decided to let us keep the horse to bring back."

"How generous. Well, at least we have transportation, it will definitely be better than just walking the way back."

Chara said as they put the supplies in a wagon that is strapped to a horse. Soon everything would be on the wagons as a few hop on the horses while others hop in the wagons. Chara was one of the few who hopped on the horse they petted as a surge of excitement flowed through them.

The way back felt very nostalgic for them; it was like the very first time they rode a horse, using Frisk's body just to feel the experiences they took away from themselves as a child. It was nice to experience it again in another world.

"Mr. Dreemurr, if I may ask, when will we start invading Mondstadt to overthrow our god?"

"Hmm… Well, we plan on being ready as soon as possible. We do have a god on our side that can help us distract Decarabian, but we know it wouldn't last for long. So we all agree we do it today or tomorrow, hopefully during the night just to get the advantage. We all know the risks of doing this fast, but we knew we couldn't fully rest until Decarabian is overthrown. Right now we're just planning on how this will all go."

"That does sound like a risk, and as you said you have all been preparing for this pretty much for weeks, right?"

"Yeah, it does sound like it is short, but these people are so determined to live a free life, a life without worry, feeling untrapped, and waiting for something to happen. A chance for something different. You can say this whole army will make a difference."

"That's true my friend. At least we're giving you all more of a fighting chance."

Chara only nodded as they knew this would be all the people they needed against one god. At least, right now, in their eyes, everything was looking good. All it needed was strategy and planning. Decarabian will not go down easily as anyone thinks.
