The three sisters sat in silence for a long moment — the kind of silence that said more than words ever could.
Finally, Chelsea stood up.
"Just promise me one thing," she said. "Don't let this destroy you. Or Marco. Or us."
Karen nodded slowly. "I promise."
But as her sisters left the room and the door closed behind them, Karen sat on her bed and stared into the wall.
