Chapter 397 - Future Proofing

[July 17th DxD/March 10th DBT]

"You can be surprisingly gentle when you choose to be..." sighed Tatsuki, reclining against Vahn in a fragrant, gently humming bubble bath. She had prohibited Vahn from attending her birthday party, as she wasn't ready for him to meet her parents. Instead, once the party had come to an end, she walked Orihime home, where the two promptly relocated to the beachside resort Vahn had prepared for her second celebration with members of the 14th Division.

"In my defense, you like it rough..." countered Vahn, causing the blush in Tatsuki's cheeks to deepen as he reached up to gently caress her neck. She wanted to refute the claim, but since she enjoyed being choked and had literally allowed him to leash her on more than a few occasions, she didn't have a leg to stand on.

"A-Anyways...there's something that's been on my mind for a while...will you hear me out?" asked Tatsuki, sounding uncharacteristically nervous as she shifted forward, taking a seat between Vahn's legs and facing him with a serious, determined expression as she revealed, "I want to spread the knowledge of Ki and Reiatsu throughout the world so that humans are better equipped to battle the supernatural..."

"A noble aspiration," affirmed Vahn, nodding. "But, like all techniques and technologies conceived to protect people, they can also be misused to cause great harm. I will support you if this is the path you've decided, but there will be consequences you have to face alone..."

"I'm well aware of how assholish some humans can be," affirmed Tatsuki, regaining a bit of her usual vigor as she asserted, "That's why I'm coming to you first. With the collective knowledge and experience of the Pavilion, I'm certain that you can devise a solution to help guide the spread so that it doesn't trace back to me and my family..."

"Mmn...I see..." hummed Vahn, the corners of his lips curling upward into a relaxed, smoldering smile as he affirmed, "The method that immediately comes to mind is full-dive VR. It will take anywhere from a few years to a few decades to lay the necessary foundation, but if we design the system to reward those who complete specialized training or perform meritorious deeds within VR, it should give kind and compassionate people a leg up in the chaos and competition that's bound to follow."

"Sounds a heck of a lot better than anything I could come up with and implement..." hummed Tatsuki, narrowing her eyes and grabbing Vahn's half-erect cock with her left hand. It immediately roused, and though she still had no idea how something so offensively large was able to fit inside her, she propped herself on her elbow and hooked her left leg awkwardly over Vahn's shoulder, allowing him to draw her toward him as his massive cock spread her like a well-lubed onahole.

"How about becoming the CEO of the company we create?" asked Vahn, catching Tatsuki by surprise as he manipulated her body with two sets of hands. She didn't bat an eye at the extra appendages—it was the notion that a musclehead like herself could stand at the top of a company bound to be one of the richest and most influential in the world.

"You have time, and there are those affiliated with the Pavilion who can prepare you for the position," stated Vahn, causing Tatsuki to emit a faint groan from her throat as he pulled flush against him and posed, "And I'm certain that if we asked them, we could get Orihime and the 14th Division in on things..."

"I...I'll leave that kind of thinking to you..." panted Tatsuki, closing her eyes and tensing her insides as tightly as she could before appending, "Just tell me...just tell me what I need to do..."

"For now, you can let me hear that beautiful voice of yours..." hummed Vahn, manipulating the size and shape of his penis to hammer Tatsuki's insides without having to move. In response, Tatsuki didn't hesitate to let her voice out, loud, sensual, and husky moans emanating from her throat that echoed loudly throughout the bath, past the bedroom outside, where another him was being ridden by Orihime, and beyond...

[July 21st DxD/March 14th DBT]

As he had prepared a BDSM ensemble resembling a sexy, black leather wedding gown and a [Hypno Collar] that would interfere with the majority of people's perception of her, Vahn was surprised when, for her birthday, Akeno simply wished for him to spend time with her and their daughter as an ordinary family.

"Papa! Papa! Look! I found a huuuuuge bug~!" chimed an adorable little girl with the same black hair, ponytail, and antennae-like ahoge as Akeno—Shuri. In place of sharp, violet eyes, hers were large, golden, and full of innocence. And as she had a habit of exploring and getting dirty, she was dressed in a short-sleeved white tee, blue overall shorts, long socks, and toddler-sized hiking shoes.

"I can see that~" hummed Vahn, his tone deep and expression full of love even as Shuri shoved a nearly fist-sized, emerald-hued rhinoceros beetle into his face.

"Shall we add it to your collection...?" asked Akeno, seated next to Vahn atop the picnic blanket they were lounging on while watching Shuri and a few of her siblings play in a forest clearing encircling a large, pristine lake inhabited by low-ranking Slimes.

"Hurry, hurry...!" responded Shuri, her eyes sparkling as Akeno giggled and pulled out a thick, bronze-hued, grimoire-looking text covered in an intricate pattern of embossed insects. Each page appeared to open to a box that sank into the page, and within those boxes were what appeared to be live insects.

"Here you go," said Akeno, turning the book to face Shuri, prompting the adorable girl to eagerly stick her hand and the insect she was holding into the empty page. As she did, the page briefly rippled and emitted a golden glow until she retracted her hand, causing the text Astradynastes Titanus to appear above the now occupied box and information about it to appear on the opposing page.

"At this rate, it won't be long before your collection reaches a hundred types of insects," remarked Vahn, extending his left hand to caress the top of Shuri's head.

"Nn! Just watch me, Papa! I'm gonna catch them all~!" exclaimed Shuri, adopting a broad, toothy smile that was distinctly missing several. Then, with renewed determination, she ran off, laughing loudly and running with her arms spread wide as she accelerated down the embankment toward the lake's edge.

"That girl's going to sleep well tonight," remarked Vahn, exhaling faintly from his nose. His body briefly tensed slightly when Shuri tripped, but instead of crying out like a normal child, she picked herself up, brushed herself off, and waved back at them with a bright smile before rejoining her half-sisters, Athena and Naya.

"She always does~" hummed Akeno, setting aside Shuri's collection and resting her head against Vahn's shoulder with closed eyes. She spared no effort to ensure her daughter could live free and pursue her interests. This ultimately caused Shuri to become a tomboy, but Akeno didn't mind in the slightest. She didn't need her daughter to act like a lady. The single most important thing to her was that Shuri was able to smile and be happy with being herself.

Ding!

'Hmm? A priority message...?' Vahn noted, his primary perspective shifting to his command theater, effectively making the Flower Flower Clone there his Prime self. He was still with Akeno, resting his cheek against the top of her head, but his Split Processing(S) naturally placed greater emphasis on the version of himself that opened his Chat interface.

'Oh? Now this is a surprise...' thought Vahn, his brows rising slightly when he saw that the message was from Ruijerd. From his perspective, close to twenty years had passed since he last interacted with the emerald-haired spearman—not since he moved what remained of the man's nearly extinct tribe to Termina.

Opening Ruijerd's exceedingly short message and reading it, Vahn's eyes narrowed. Ruijerd was one of the Pavilion's agents operating in the world of Mushoku Tensei. He hadn't actually been tasked with anything specific. Rather, in exchange for harboring his people, he had self-assigned himself the task of monitoring the situation in the Demon Continent—promising to report on major developments.

'So, the cat's out of the bag...' noted Vahn, his eyes narrowing as Ruijerd's message was to inform him that Hitogami, the main antagonist within his setting, had contacted him via a dream. As a result, the childish and cruel God now knew everything Ruijerd knew about the Tower, the Pavilion, and Invirtua as a whole.

'Now, how to solve this...?' Vahn pondered, closing his eyes and leaning onto the knuckles of his right hand atop an ivory-white, black-cushioned chair that hovered several centimeters above the floor. Gloria was with a different version of him, attending child care classes, so it was just him in the command theater at that moment. He and Sis, of course.

(In the grand scheme of things, this changes very little) argued Sis, noting (Other than Paul, Ruijerd should have limited knowledge of the other Ascendees from his world. The likelihood of him being targeted by one of Hitogami's Apostles is high, but since his people are safe, here in Termina, I suspect he would be keen to serve as bait to draw out and take them down.)

'But without direct intervention on our part or a sponsorship of sorts, it's unlikely that Ruijerd could acquire the power to oppose Hitogami himself. His progress in the Tower has stalled, and his solo mentality prevents him from farming efficiently...' noted Vahn, opening his eyes and staring at the display that had opened, showing Ruijerd sitting around a small campfire. Becoming an Ascendee had allowed the man to reach the point where he could anoint himself a Spear God using his world's terminology. But if he were to face Hitogami without something to protect him from the errant God's Authority, the latter could presumably vaporize him with a wave of his hand.

(Well, the absolute simplest course of action would be to have Ruijerd relocate to and operate out of Termina, cutting off Hitogami's access to him entirely) proffered Sis, pointing out (With the singular exception of Ghislaine, everyone else from his world has already migrated here for the conveniences we offer. If we similarly asked her to remain here, Hitogami has no one from our side he can target.)

'True enough...' affirmed Vahn. 'But we've already removed several key figures from that world. And given his paranoid nature, there's a chance Hitogami could begin eliminating those with fates tied to Ruijerd's out of caution and spite. And since he knows we're here, lying in wait, he could begin preparing forces for a full-scale war...'

(Then, while not the simplest, per se, the most prudent course of action would be to approach Orsted directly or prepare a Hero to face Hitogami on the setting's behalf) contended Sis. (*As it stands, there are still more than a hundred years before Hitogami's canon defeat. We could wait until then and support the summoned Hero, but that would grant Hitogami free rein for decades and likely result in Orsted committing suicide to reset his loop—reversing the flow of causality in ways that are difficult to predict.*)

'Right...that's a thing...' Vahn muttered internally, his brows creasing as he tried to imagine how Orsted's causal rewind would work with people who were originally trapped within the loop removed. His loop began decades before Ghislaine and other key figures were born, so would a replacement version of her be created to mend the void her absence left in the world's fate, or would she simply not exist in the new loop?

(*It should be latter, but without observing the process in effect, I can't know for certain*) contributed Sis, leaving Vahn tapping the left arm rest of his chair with his left index finger. If he pulled everyone affiliated with the Tower and Pavilion out of the world, it theoretically didn't matter how much devastation Hitogami wrought, as it would ultimately be undone the moment Orsted ended his loop. And by permitting that to occur, he could undo seventy-plus years of Hitogami taking advantage of and exploiting people for his personal enjoyment...

"It's all coming together..." muttered Vahn, an almost mischievous smile developing across his face as his brain began to piece together a plan to help Orsted achieve his goal while fucking Hitogami over in spectacular fashion...
