The sea surrounding Divine Island shimmered like liquid silver. Every wave reflected the sunlight in dazzling flashes that irritated Alvin's already sour mood. He stood on the deck of his floating platform, robes fluttering in the wind, long black hair brushing his waist. His blue eyes narrowed as the island's pearly shores came into view.
He did not slow down.He did not breathe deeply.He did not mentally prepare himself.
He simply braced for impact. Because dealing with Lady Sapphire was always an impact.
Birds began squawking overhead in chaotic patterns the moment Alvin stepped onto the island's sand. The sky dimmed slightly. Flower petals scattered even though no breeze was present.
Alvin swore under his breath.
The island was reacting to Sapphire's presence. Which meant she was nearby.
