I didn't know how many hours had passed since I locked myself inside my office.
The air was thick with smoke, the floor littered with crumpled papers and empty glasses.
I sat behind my desk, elbows dug into the wood, my fingers threading through my hair.
I was losing my mind.
Her betrayal kept slicing through my thoughts like a rusty blade.
Even now, her voice haunted me… the way she had looked at me when she said she loved me.
All of it… lies?
I didn't know anymore. And it was driving me mad.
A knock at the door barely registered in my daze.
"Boss… someone wants to see you," Marcello said from the doorway.
I didn't look at him. I didn't move. Just sat there, drowning in the thick smoke of my own rage.
"Who?" My voice was rough, almost unrecognizable even to my own ears.
"One of the files you usually call to relieve your stress, maybe," Marcello shrugged.
I flicked my eyes up to him sharp, cold.
