Chapter 362 - Chapter 363: Perfection

One hour later, as dusk began to fall, Qingming and his team returned to Eagle Cliff. They waited roughly another half hour until all patrol teams had returned to the base. Then, Qingming began listening to their reports.

From the reports, Qingming learned that none of the teams, including his own, encountered any Mist Village ninja that day.

"Could it be that the Mist Village has given up on reconnaissance?"

Qingming felt a nagging suspicion, so he called over a Leaf Village ninja and asked him to contact Kuroze Shogi to see if there was any activity in their direction.

The Leaf Village ninja, following Qingming's orders without hesitation, bit his thumb, performed the Summoning Technique, and summoned a hawk-like familiar. As it soared into the sky, Qingming waited patiently.

About half an hour later, he received a reply. In other directions, Mist Village ninjas were still appearing; they hadn't given up on their reconnaissance.

Something unusual was clearly afoot. Eagle Cliff Base, being the weakest point along the entire northern defense line, would surely be scouted by Mist Village, even with him stationed here. Mist Village, as one of the Five Great Ninja Villages, had its pride and wouldn't be so easily intimidated by just one person.

"This has to be a trap."

With that thought in mind, Qingming issued his orders, "Tonight, stay alert and double the night watch."

Hearing this, the others' faces tightened, but they promptly replied, "Yes, Captain!"

"Good," Qingming nodded in satisfaction and continued, "All right, you're dismissed to make the arrangements."

"Yes, Captain!" they replied and hurried off.

Watching them go, Qingming fell into thought. He wasn't certain if Mist Village was planning a surprise attack, but it was always better to be prepared.

However, as it turned out, his suspicions were unfounded, and nothing happened that night.

The Next Morning

Qingming didn't stay at the base but instead joined his team once again to conduct their patrol. As before, he didn't follow the group directly, leaving a shadow clone as a means of communication while he found a quiet spot to continue his training.

The day passed quickly, from sunrise to sunset. Yet again, they encountered nothing of significance.

Other teams reported similarly: not a soul in sight. Strangely, though, sightings of Mist Village ninjas were increasing around other nearby bases along the defense line. This unsettling development left everyone tense.

Once more, Qingming ordered that nighttime defenses be heightened. He then returned to his quarters to resume his training.

As they say, when a warrior is prepared, there's no need to fear an enemy's trickery. Since he couldn't decipher Mist Village's plans, he decided it was best to focus on what he could control—his strength. In a world where power is paramount, personal strength is everything.

In the face of overwhelming force, any scheme is futile. So rather than second-guessing Mist's motives, he'd rather seize every moment to improve himself. In doing so, he would always be ready, no matter what Mist Village might throw his way.

His calm demeanor reassured others in the base, and each person focused intently on their duties. That night, again, passed without incident.

Day Three

In the morning, after breakfast, Qingming left Eagle Cliff with Uchiha Tekka and his team. Upon reaching the familiar rocky outcrop, Uchiha Tekka turned to him, asking, "Qingming, are you going to train again?"

"Yes," Qingming nodded, forming the "Ram" seal with his hands to perform the Shadow Clone Technique and summoning nine clones. As usual, he left one clone as a contact point while he and the other eight clones departed for the rocky area.

Watching him go, Uchiha Tekka shook his head and directed his men to continue patrolling the designated area.

Time flew by, and by mid-afternoon, Qingming dispelled his Shadow Clones to absorb the previous hour's training experiences and memories.

A brief moment later, he opened his eyes, a glint of satisfaction in his gaze. "Finally perfected!"

Indeed, after nearly a week of practice, his Wind Style: Wind Blade had progressed from Level 6 (8100/10000) to Level 7 (0/0), reaching mastery.

Qingming now felt his understanding of this jutsu had reached unprecedented depth, and his control over Wind Chakra had advanced to a whole new level.

He raised his hands and formed the necessary seals, casting the technique. Instantly, a transparent wind blade, nearly ten meters in length, appeared, slicing swiftly through the air and embedding itself in the rock with a smooth, clean cut.

Compared to Level 6, the Wind Blade at Level 7 mastery was significantly faster and more powerful. Its concealment had diminished somewhat, however, due to the blade's increased size.

Then again, speed conquers all. With a fast enough blade, there would be no room for the enemy to evade, regardless of whether they saw it coming.

What's more, he could make the wind blade less visible by simply reducing the chakra input to decrease its length.

Content, Qingming lowered his hands and began contemplating where to allocate the chakra he'd been investing in the Wind Blade now that it was complete.

Over the past while, Qingming had dedicated a total of 24,000 chakra points daily to Wind Blade practice. Such an amount would accelerate the growth of any skill, so he needed to choose carefully.

First, he ruled out Palm Sage Technique and Reflection Technique. These required his own body to perform, and they were already quite time-intensive, leaving no room for additional practice.

Next, he set aside Water Style: Water Wall,Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu,Rasengan,Illusion Sword Technique,Instant Sword Technique, and so on. Each of these was progressing steadily, and there wasn't an urgent need to advance them further, so allocating more chakra to them would be unnecessary.

After careful consideration, he settled on investing his resources in Wind Style: Rasenshuriken. His first S-rank forbidden technique, it was his trump card and crucial to his future development of flying jutsu.

This decision meant that his daily chakra allocation to the Rasenshuriken would reach a formidable 58,000 points, surpassing the 36,000 he'd previously invested in Palm Sage Technique by an impressive 22,000 points.

With such a large amount of chakra, he couldn't afford to assign the task to just one shadow clone. He'd likely need two clones to handle the training.

As he mulled over his new training plan, a flash of memory surfaced in his mind.

Qingming's eyes narrowed slightly, swiftly scanning through the memory. After a moment, his expression shifted, and he turned abruptly, looking in the direction Uchiha Tekka and the others had gone.
