Chapter 500 - Chapter 501: The Action

After pulling his thoughts back, Qingming refocused on his skill panel.

Aside from the two perfected ninjutsu and the three newly copied ones, the skills that required his attention were the Shadow Clone Jutsu and the Healing Technique.

The former had seen a significant increase in proficiency after he allocated the 20,000 chakra points saved by perfecting Telepathic Jutsu into it, accelerating its progression.

Currently, it had reached lv5 (4190/5000), and was only a little over 800 proficiency points away from advancing to lv6.

At present, Qingming was investing a total of 35,000 chakra points into it, allowing it to gain over 230 proficiency points every day.

In other words, in just over three days, it would reach the next level.

Once Shadow Clone Jutsu reached lv6, Qingming predicted that, in conjunction with lv5 Wind Release: Wings of Wind, he should be able to create flying shadow clones while in flight.

Without a doubt, this would further enhance his agility in combat.

Of course, even if it didn't work as he expected, it didn't matter.

His Wind Release: Wings of Wind was already at lv5 (3995/5000), and by allocating around 20,000 chakra points each day, it would gain around 235 proficiency points per day.

In other words, in just over four days, his Wind Release: Wings of Wind would reach lv6.

At that point, when paired with a lv6 Shadow Clone Jutsu, he would definitely achieve his goal.

Thus, there was no need for concern.

Aside from Shadow Clone Jutsu, the next skill on his list was Healing Technique.

Over the past week, its accumulated proficiency had significantly surpassed the amount it would have gained from his planned physical strengthening exercises.

The reason for this was simple: Qingming had taken on some medical duties, treating injured soldiers, which allowed him to gain additional proficiency in the technique.

Additionally, this also led to slight increases in the proficiency of his Chakra Scalpel and Minor Ailment Extraction Jutsu.

The latter was still at lv6 (3100/10000), quite far from lv7.

However, the former had reached lv6 (9200/10000), only one step away from lv7.

While lv7 may not be the maximum for Healing Technique, it would be a significant improvement.

Perhaps, when it reached that level, he wouldn't need to form hand signs to cast it.

In other words, the technique would be usable in battle.

And for any ninjutsu that could improve his combat strength, Qingming paid close attention.

He decided that, for the time being, he would allocate some of the chakra he had plundered from the Mist Ninjas to Chakra Scalpel to increase its proficiency more rapidly.

After shifting his gaze away from this skill, Qingming examined his other abilities. Nothing else stood out, as most of them were progressing according to his training plan.

The only noteworthy skills were the recently copied ninjutsu.

Although Qingming hadn't specifically allocated chakra to these techniques, they still grew, thanks to the leftover chakra he had.

In the future, he didn't plan to assign chakra to these ninjutsu, as they could be sustained with chakra obtained from plundering.

After spending a few minutes summarizing his recent gains and planning his next steps, Qingming closed the panel.

He looked up, through the gap in the window, and gazed at the night sky.

A full moon hung in the sky, its silvery light casting down and drawing Qingming's full attention.

Knock knock knock~

At that moment, a series of knocks echoed.

Qingming snapped out of his thoughts and called out, "Come in!"

The door was pushed open with a creak, and a figure entered the room.

Qingming turned to face the newcomer, who was one of his subordinates—a special jonin named Kobayashi Junji.

As soon as Kobayashi entered, he spoke, "Captain, all personnel have assembled!"

Indeed, before his final round of training, Qingming had issued orders for everyone to gather at dawn.

And now, the timing was just right.

Qingming nodded, and without needing to prepare anything, since he'd been in this combat zone for some time and hadn't removed his equipment, he stood up and walked out of the room.

Outside, in front of the formation, Qingming saw his team—several dozen Konoha ninjas—standing at attention, waiting for his next command.

"I wonder how many of these people will survive after tonight?" Qingming thought to himself.

The beheading operation would certainly involve more than just the jonin. In addition to them, many chuunin and genin would also be involved.

In a sense, this could be considered a full-scale assault.

However, their goal wasn't to wipe out the enemy's fighting forces or expel them from the Land of Fire. Instead, they were meant to attract the Mist Ninja's attention, creating an opportunity for the jonin to carry out their beheading mission.

In other words, the top-tier jonin wouldn't participate in the initial stages of the battle.

As a result, the casualties among the lower-ranked ninjas would be significant.

That's why Qingming muttered to himself, unsure how many would survive after tonight.

He looked at the unaware chuunin and genin below, shook his head, and dismissed the thought. Then he immediately ordered Kobayashi Junji, "Lead everyone to the direction of Otsu Port immediately."

"Yes, Captain!" Kobayashi Junji immediately responded, but then he seemed to realize something was wrong and asked, "Captain, are we attacking the Mist Ninja's main base?"

Indeed, Otsu Port was the Mist Village's main base in this battlefield. After being captured by the Mist Ninjas, it had become the bridgehead for their invasion into the Land of Fire.

Its defenses were extraordinarily tight.

Now, Qingming was ordering an attack on the base, which seemed like a death wish.

At that moment, not only Kobayashi Junji, but the rest of the team also didn't understand Qingming's intentions.

There was even a slight stir among the lower-ranked ninjas in the formation.

Qingming didn't want to explain, but considering the importance of morale, he briefly addressed the matter, "This operation won't just involve our team. Other allied forces will also be participating."

As for why they were attacking the Mist Ninja's base, Qingming didn't provide an explanation.

It wasn't that he didn't want to, but the mission's secrecy was of the utmost importance.

Not even Kobayashi Junji, a jonin who wasn't part of the beheading operation, had the right to know.

Thus, when he first gave the order, it was no surprise that Kobayashi Junji reacted with surprise.

But what Qingming thought didn't matter.

After a brief explanation, he turned back to Kobayashi Junji and said, "Carry out the order, Junji!"

Upon hearing this, Kobayashi Junji immediately straightened up and replied, "Yes, Captain!"

Although Qingming's explanation hadn't fully resolved their confusion, a command was a command. As the highest-ranking officer in the team, since Qingming had given the order, everyone else had no choice but to follow it.

Kobayashi Junji suppressed his inner doubts, turned toward the rest of the team, and shouted, "Everyone, target Otsu Port, move out!"

Soon, the entire team set off.

At the same time, dozens of other teams on the battlefield were also heading toward Otsu Port, all with the same target in mind.

As the saying goes, when attacking a snake, one must strike at its weak point. In order for the beheading operation to succeed, the Mist Ninja's main base at Otsu Port had to be taken.
