After receiving Sato's confirmation, Maya immediately revealed a proud smile and began explaining the true purpose of her visit in detail.
The more Sato listened to her, the deeper the furrow between his brows became. His expression grew increasingly solemn, and a look of astonishment began to surface in his eyes.
"That's the whole story. This is merely an invitation from Lord Tomoki to you. Whether or not you choose to accept it is entirely up to you. That's all I was asked to relay. Hopefully, I'll see you tomorrow. Goodbye."
A few minutes later, Maya finished conveying Tomoki's message. Without lingering, she promptly commanded the Natu on her shoulder to use Teleport, disappearing from Sato's and the others' view with elegant flair.
Soon after, the campsite fell back into silence. Thomas and the Pokémon around them kept as quiet as possible to give Sato a peaceful environment to process everything.
Sato stared quietly at the dancing flames in the campfire ahead. His expression remained calm on the outside, but inside, the waves stirred violently from Maya's words.
He tried to maintain composure, but it was difficult to hide the glint of excitement flickering in his flame-reflecting eyes.
Although Maya hadn't said much, her words had clearly conveyed Tomoki's intent.
In short, Tomoki and his team had discovered an ancient underground ruin on the island. Due to the presence of powerful guardians within, they lacked the strength to explore it alone and thus wished to invite Sato to join them.
From Maya's explanation, Sato learned that the underground ruin was enormous in size.
Moreover, it clearly contained something of great value, since during their initial exploration, they were attacked by the ancient guardians—Regirock, Regice, and Registeel.
Although Sato had never explored any ancient ruins in the world himself, he had at least seen their effects. He had frequented places where antiques were bought and sold—and profited handsomely from it.
Most of those antique dealers had once ventured into real ruins themselves, and they loved to recount their glorious tales and experiences within, partly to build trust with buyers and partly to inflate the price of their relics.
As a well-funded patron with an eye for authenticity, Sato was naturally well-liked by these vendors. With his ability to discern genuine artifacts, he had easily obtained quite a bit of information about ancient ruins from those who had actually visited them.
Because ancient humans had once existed, the world certainly contained many ruins from their era. But it was extremely rare to encounter ancient guardians like Regirock, Regice, or Registeel.
These three—often called the Legendary Titans—were considered Mythical Pokémon by most Trainers.
According to legend, they were created by Regigigas, another Legendary Pokémon, using stone, ice, and molten metal.
Compared to other Legendary Pokémon, the Legendary Titans were encountered more often. But to any Trainer, running into them was rarely a pleasant experience.
Perhaps due to commands left by their creator Regigigas, these nearly immortal beings were typically found in ancient ruins, acting as loyal protectors.
The Titans would proactively attack any intruders. Unless the intruder left voluntarily or defeated them, the battle would not stop—it would be a fight to the end.
Though they were a nightmare for archaeologists and tomb raiders alike, there was no doubt that any ruin protected by the Titans held rare and powerful treasures.
Of course, it was also likely to contain dangerously sealed objects—otherwise, it wouldn't be worthy of protection from Legendary Pokémon like the Titans in the first place.
As for Tomoki's message relayed by Maya, Sato only half believed it. The part about them exploring ruins was probably true—but whether they were the ones who discovered the ruin in the first place was another matter entirely.
"South… Tropical jungle… Mysterious island… Why does that sound so familiar? Could this actually be the mysterious island where Mew appeared in the Special Chapter? If so, then this ruin must be the Mew Ruins."
What shocked Sato most wasn't that the ruin held Legendary Titans—but that Maya's words had awakened a sudden realization about the island's deeper secrets.
Although it was still just a personal theory, as a transmigrator with foreknowledge, Sato had great confidence in his guess.
He somewhat remembered that Team Rocket had discovered the Mew Ruins within a southern tropical jungle and had obtained a Mew fossil from it.
It was also recorded in the Special Chapter that Mew's habitat was a mysterious island, and Team Rocket had been the first to locate its coordinates.
Stringing these clues together, Sato finally realized that the mysterious island he was currently on might very well be Mew's homeland—and the location of the Mew Ruins.
"If I'm right, then this place is the starting point of Team Rocket's entire artificial Legendary Pokémon project. This island holds the key to the creation of Mewtwo."
Once that thought formed, Sato couldn't stop thinking further—and the more he thought about it, the more excited he became.
In the world of Pokémon, the creation of Mewtwo was undoubtedly one of humanity's greatest miracles. Its birth symbolized humankind's further wresting of creation rights from the creator god, Arceus, cementing human supremacy in the Pokémon world.
At the same time, Sato's interest in the ruin hidden on this mysterious island was growing stronger and stronger.
Even though he knew the ruin was incredibly dangerous, the possibility that it was connected to Mew made him itch to explore it.
He still vividly remembered the miraculous effects of the Mew Gene Enhancement Serum—an incredibly valuable item.
If this really was the Mew Ruins, then it was highly likely that the site held items related to Mew—such as its primal life force or other secrets.
Of course, aside from wanting Mew's origin energy, Sato had another dream:
He was someone with aspirations. He sincerely hoped that he could find a usable Mew Fossil within the ruins.
