Weavile's Ability was clearly Pressure. The moment it appeared on the battlefield, an overwhelming aura burst forth from its small frame.
This oppressive energy, compounded by the innate sinister aura of a Dark-type and the bone-chilling cold of an Ice-type, gave rise to a menacing presence. This pressure wasn't just invisible—it carried with it a tangible wave of icy, malicious intent that pierced straight through one's heart.
In an instant, every living creature within a hundred meters felt as if an icy spike had been suspended above their chests. Their hearts throbbed with the illusion of being stabbed through with ice.
Sato, a veteran of countless battles, wasn't affected much. He only felt a slight discomfort from Weavile's pressure.
However, the nearby trainers and onlookers—drawn by the spectacle—weren't so lucky. Most of the weaker trainers and ordinary spectators gasped in fear, clutching their chests with terror-stricken faces.
'What incredible mastery over Ice-type energy… at a very high level," Sato thought. "And with that egg-sized piece of Never-Melt Ice hanging around its neck, it's channeling a tremendous reservoir of cold. This level 64 Weavile can alter the weather without even using a move.'
Sato ignored the chaos in the audience and focused solely on Sophia's Weavile. He noted how it effortlessly caused localized snowfall, and with the help of his system's detection feature, he immediately understood—this was going to be a brutal fight.

....
From this information, it was obvious—this Weavile was built to dominate. Not only did it have a top-tier Gold-tier rating, but it also knew high-powered moves like Foul Play, Icicle Crash, and Blizzard.
Sato guessed that this Weavile, whose demeanor so closely mirrored its icy beauty of a Trainer, was Sophia's ace. Both had the same cold, commanding presence. Both were female. They practically looked like sisters.
But what troubled Sato wasn't Weavile's stats. It was the deeply familiar feeling radiating from it—and the fleeting, bloodthirsty madness in its eyes. That look etched itself into his memory.
If his instincts were right, this Weavile likely came from the Mysterious Island, and had even spent time in its central region.
Pokémon from that area were renowned for their exceptional instincts and deadly combat prowess. Compared to regular Pokémon of the same level, they were often three times as dangerous—and could easily defeat stronger opponents.
Sophia was clearly an elite Trainer. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been positioned near Viridian Gym to intercept him. Sato figured she was likely the final obstacle before reaching the Gym. Beyond her… possibly Giovanni himself, or one of his closest men like Joe Kondo.
This Weavile, trained extensively and armed with the Ice-type treasure Never-Melt Ice, was undoubtedly stronger than most Pokémon of its level.
From a type matchup perspective, Sato's best choice would be Arcanine, who could freely manipulate high-temperature flames to counter Ice-types like Weavile.
However… his Arcanine was only level 51. A 13-level gap was far too large to overcome with type advantage alone.
"I originally planned to save you for last... but if I don't use you now, I might not get another chance."
"Come out, Swampert. Let's use this round as your warm-up."
After a moment of calculation, Sato realized there was no way to win this without going all in. He pulled out Swampert's PokeBall and threw it into the air.
As a Dark/Ice-type, Weavile was highly vulnerable to Fighting-type moves. Swampert knew Hammer Arm, a devastating Fighting-type move with a base power of 120.
If it landed cleanly, the battle could end in a single blow.
In the next instant, white light burst from the opened PokeBall and struck the ground in front of Sato.
"Swammmm-PERRRT!!"
Swampert landed heavily, glaring at the now-serious Weavile. It slammed its fists into the ground with a loud BOOM, unleashing a battle cry that made the entire field tremble. The thin layer of ice on the battlefield instantly shattered.
Sophia, unfazed, pulled a long leather whip from her side and cracked it hard against the ground.
CRACK!
Instantly, a red gleam flashed in Weavile's eyes, and the Never-Melt Ice pendant on her chest lit up with a dazzling icy blue glow.
That glow quickly spread like liquid across her body, covering her in a shimmering, ice-blue aura.
Once fully enveloped, Weavile stomped her right foot down—and a blast of frigid air exploded outward, rapidly refreezing the ground in every direction.
In the blink of an eye, the field was once again covered in a slick, thin layer of ice.
Then, Weavile became a black blur, gliding silently across the icy surface toward Swampert at incredible speed.
But just before the attack came, a high-pitched, glass-shattering screech pierced Sato and Swampert's ears. The noise was unbearable, disrupting their reaction time by just a fraction.
In battle, even half a second could spell disaster.
Worse, Swampert's defense suddenly dropped—its body glowed with a harsh light, signaling a serious weakening.
And then the attack struck.
Weavile's claws, now enveloped in chilling Ice-type energy and a malevolent Dark-type aura, slashed cleanly across Swampert's right arm as she zipped past.
It was a ruthless combo—Ice Punch paired with Feint Attack, both executed with deadly precision.
Two deep wounds instantly froze the surrounding flesh, leaving icy claw marks embedded into Swampert's body.
