Ikem found settling in a bit difficult.
Apparently, living in a relatively technologically advanced camp filled with people of different tribes, nations, and different methods of living could be unsettling.
This was his second week at Camp Perudaux and his first under the Recruit training program.
The way of life at the camp was different, irregular, hazardous, and most of the time disorienting.
The method of training recruits were unorthodox as there was no absolute formula for all the Pantheons. Rather they all were segregated into different types called Class.
The 'They' representing the rest of the captives that had survived the recruitment test together with Ikem, and some from other Batches.
Currently, Ikem sat on the floor of a standardized training hall with a bunch of other teens, numbering about thirty.
Standardized here meant that it was a large, empty, and brightly lit white metallic coated hall.
The teenagers sat in a semicircle around the male class instructor.
They were the recruits graded to be on a class known formally as the 'Class Unique'.
And coincidentally their male instructor happened to be someone familiar to Ikem, not from his past or the ancients, but from part of the recent memories he could recall from; Mr. Eloth Diu.
The instructor who had lead him on the procession for the Recruitment test.
The recruits, based on an Old decree by the Third Commander; the Commander before the reign of Pixler, former overseer of the J.P.P district at the Region Libra, Camp Perudaux's students were graded into classes such as:
The Kratos of Strength and War: Individuals connected to deities of strength, war, and combat.
The Arcana of Magic and Miracles: Those linked to deities overseeing magic, healing, and subtle parts of the elemental forces of fire, water, earth, air.
The Kalyndri of Knowledge and Innovation: Individuals connected to deities of knowledge, education, invention, craftsmanship, and innovation. They possess expertise in various fields, using their skills in crafts.
The Kyros of the Unexplained and the undiscovered: Teens with mysterious, unexplained powers that defy categorization, often drawing from multiple domains or representing entirely new and unpredictable abilities. These were dubbed class unique.
Products; people with these classes as their Alma maters, were drafted to serve as militia liaison officials. However, these connotations were only held by the Taxitial branch of The J.P.P; Camp Perudaux.
Ikem stared at the instructor silently.
If one looked close enough, they would see spaces made by the other teenagers sitting around him as they quietly moved away from him.
They did it subtly.
Although such actions were not encouraged within the Camp, he had already been ostracized, and just within the day he had entered.
Together with what happened on the programs first day, no one wanted to be caught dead together with the guy who they believed had killed an instructor during his Recruit assessment test.
Somehow, such classified information had leaked from the Camp officials and into recruit circle.
Ikem suspected the leak to be from his instructor: Eloth.
And it so happened that he appeared to look in Ikem's direction as he spoke.
"Now, as most of you know, there are no compounded syllabus for the training of ClassUnique, or any class for that matter, so the entirety of all you will study during the short two-years of your O.I.T program, will be based on what and how I deem fit".
Eloth spoke, his voice loud and unrealistically chilling.
This had been his opening statement for the past week, and he didn't seem to be bothered or compelled to change it.
And instead of it becoming boring, it was beginning to turn eerie.
The Class Unique; when compared to the other classes, had a very unnerving method of training.
Though they were made by their instructor, to fight one another, and go on quests as with other Classes, It was made clear to them from the first day, that they would serve as experimental sources. In order to obtain passing grades into officialdom.
Just the week before, they had been forewarned by Eloth on an impending exam.
An exam he set up "To promote the spirit of Competition".
Eloth Diu was with an eccentric personality.
Irrational at times, Cold, overbearing and strictly logical. The Captured students of Class Unique had grown to live in fear of his very shadow.
A good number of them had once tried rebelling. But after the starters of the rebellion turned to corpses before their very eyes', the thought vanished from the minds of all those that were present.
This happened Five days ago.
"Neely Morgen and Kanima Hapota, head to the center of the hall".
Eloth shouted, his arms at rest behind his back.
The students who had been called; one male and the other female, both shuffled to their feet.
From their actions it could be gleaned on that they hadn't expected to be called first but they had always been ready.
'Expecting surprises is a key trait found in all Trained officers'. Eloth always said. He had scarred a recruit's back with these words, using a kitchen knife.
This was three days ago.
The two recruits both stood solemnly at the hall's center; eying each other.
Soon after, they bowed.
"Introduce yourselves firstly, shake hands then entertain us" The instructor quipped.
The boy stepped up first.
"Neely Morgen, Ex-Civilian to the Faith Tribe of Galbosos, Part of the Sub-region Lupus. Blessed of the Eight immortal".
He stood with his hands outstretched, waiting.
The girl moved closer, standing three meters away from her counterpart,.
"Kanima Hapota, Ex-Civilian to the Faith Tribe of Tarykar, part of the Sub-region Lupus. Blessed of the Deity Harnikar of the violent".
She took his hand, shaking it lightly. Her voice was soft, but echoed uncannily throughout the hall.
And at the same time, they released their hands, kicking off the ground; backwards, to more than ten meters away.
The other recruits; serving as audience watched.
The duel was one fought by combatants from Faith Nations that had their territories close to each other at the same Sub-region.
This implied that they both atleast had a rough idea on each other's capabilities.
"Begin!!"
Eloth gave the signal; the duel started.
Morgen began by jumping; shifting his balance to both legs amidst each jump as an attempt in circulating his Ability Flores to all parts of his body.
This action wasn't weird, it was his start up, in fact— it was a basic root action commonly found in the beginning of all fighting techniques of most Faith Sects.
Kanima watched carefully from afar, studying her opponent's movements, she too was circulating her Ability Flores albeit only slightly,
She knew it's implications: that it would cause her to be slower in the manifestation of her Supernatural.
But she'd rather face the consequences than let her opponent gain the chance to study the way she moved.
This simple act proved a lot. Kanima was careful and calculative, while Morgen proved in his own right to be careless and also without experience.
Within a few moments he charged at her with his upper torso glowing up with a mysterious blue color.
