In the years that followed Ren moved from place to place and Noe retreated back inside of his mind as he killed with no regard for their age or innocence. The numbers increasing as the years faded away.
And each decade, as if by an unvoiced and unmarked appointment, Yri would appear and ask the same question: 'What have you found?'
Until one day she appeared before them with a new one:
"Do you want to see him again?"
Her quiet breathy voice washed over him like a calming wave and Noe stirred himself back to the forefront.
"What do you mean? You told me that I couldn't. You told me I had to stay away." He stepped towards her his deep blue eyes bright with excitement.
Yri cocked her head to the side, her beautiful mahogany hair falling about her delicate face like a sheet of water, "Oh? How curious. It's like there's two of you. Can you tell me how that works?"
