Yoria flattened her body against the trunk of a tree, clapping a hand over her mouth to quiet her heavy, panting breath; her heart racing in her chest and pumping adrenaline through her veins.
The forests of Iya Valley were dark at night, the cloudy sky providing no illumination from the moon above them.
But Ria crouched low and picked her way carefully across the forest floor from tree to tree. She had long since discarded her shoes to muffle the sound of her footsteps.
She knew that he could see clearly in the dark, she knew that he would hear her footsteps and the beat of her heart.
Jolting in shock, Ria froze when her dark dress snagged against a low hanging branch, pausing to gather her wits as she bent to release it.
