Chapter 19 - [19] A Song of Ice & Earth

A/N: Hello, Shonpufi here!

Wow, it's been a while since I posted. A month or two, I believe.

I'm sorry it took this long when I said it would be a month, but believe me when I say that A LOT of things have changed. More specifically, I delved deep into the Genshin timeline.

(Also, school stuff, I'm rawdogging multiple high-level classes. And I'm also changing my direction in life. I finally found what I would like to do in life; I am now becoming a special ED teacher. I was going to be a Radiology technician, but the only reason I chose that in the beginning was because I was fresh off from high school, not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. Well, that's something at least.)

Some events will be pushed back while some might be advanced, but in the end it will be good.

Anyways, this is the first chapter for season two, "Moon Halo."

I haven't written it all, but by the time I do, I think too much time will have passed, so this will just be "Part One."

It was hard to get the personality and talking mannerisms right for some of the characters.

And as a sorry for taking so long, I will give you the titles of major seasons/arcs I have planned.

There may or may not be mini arcs in between them.

-Meliodas POV-

As I was sucked inside the space-time distortion, the scenery around me changed from where I was before in my room. As my existence stabilized here, wherever I was taken to, I was greeted by the warm sun, causing my eyes to close for a bit since my eyes were accustomed to the dark I was surrounded by a while ago.

Opening them back up, I could see the beautiful horizon painted yellow, huge natural pillars of stone towering above the forest, and every single tree in the forest was yellow. I was taken away by how beautiful the landscape was. It was different from the usual green hills I'm used to.

"But why am I all the way up here!!!" All of this beautiful scenery was all right under my feet.

It seems like I was transported to the very top of one of the highest mountains here. And considering the color scheme of the landscape, I'm guessing this must be Liyue.

"Sigh...what do I do now?" I grumbled.

I didn't know when or where I was and there was nowhere for me to go.

I also have to stay here for THREE months before I'm able to return, well, that's according to the systems stupid rules.

Hm?

Are my senses playing with me?

"System, how far back did you send me?" I asked, wanting to confirm something.

[The system's randomly selected time travel was about a bit more than 6000 years into the past]

Six thousand?

That's WAY too far. Wasn't Morax six thousand years old? and he's supposedly the oldest of the seven Archons!

Anyways, that confirms my theory as to why there's so much, what's the word, abundance?

Yes, there is an insane abundance of energy in the air.

If, before, back into the future, the atmospheric energies were like a pool.

Then right now it's like a whole fucking lake, with other two mini lakes alongside of it.

I know my description sounds weird, but I can't find the word for a body of water bigger than a lake but smaller than an ocean.

But you get the idea. And right now, all that surrounding energy is being sucked in like a vortex in a specific direction.

Walking towards the phenomenon's direction, I was met with the entrance to a cave.

Yep, there's totally nothing weird or suspicious about this....

Ah fuck it, we ball!

And thus, I entered the cave-damn, it's cold in here!

Feels like my balls are shriveling up and freezing solid!

-3rd POV-

Meliodas continued walking down the cave's dark stone corridors; all that illuminated was a small ball of light he had created in his hand with [Bahamut's] light.

Usually, caves like these are wet or at least moist due to the altitude at which they are located within the mountain and the moisture that is collected there.

But that wasn't the case. Cold wind blew from the direction Meliodas was walking towards, creating ice on every cave surface from the combination of freezing temperature and built-up moisture.

After walking for a few moments more, he finally reached the light at the end of the hall.

Well, it wasn't really light, but the luminescence of the yellow crystal pillars of highly concentrated geo-elemental energy. These pillars seemed to connect from top to bottom in the cavern, as if every single one of them was the foundation of this place, keeping the cavern from collapsing.

Cold ice also covered every inch of the cavern, making the whole room even more freezing cold than it was behind in the corridor.

"Whoa, this place is awesome" Meliodas said in awe.

But the shining spectacle of ice and crystal wasn't what caught Meliodas's eye the most. What did was the two eggs laid in a small nest in the middle of the cavern.

"So that's what sucking all that energy" Meliodas said in confirmation. His senses could feel both eggs siphoning the energy in the ambient air.

Meliodas approached and inspected the eggs further. "The eggs must be feeding and living off elemental energy until they hatch."

Reaching into his systems [Spatial Storage], Meliodas pulled out a book with the cover saying "MYP Journal (VOL 6)", the MYP being his initials, Meliodas Yhwach Pendragon.

These journals contained information regarding everything he'd experienced so far and information about abilities, items, etc. that he had witnessed.

-------

Entry: Day: XX, Month: XX, Year: XX

"The first egg is a mix of blue-white with a scaly shell exterior. Judging the looks of the egg, I can only guess that it's a dragon egg...I should get the fuck out of here soon.

Elements? Probably ice, considering the coloring, but I could be wrong."

-------

Meliodas has never really seen a real dragon egg in person, but he was pretty damn sure that chickens don't crap out white-blue eggs. And especially not one that's the size of an over-inflated balloon.

-------

Entry: Day: XX, Month: XX, Year: XX

"The second egg, unlike the first egg, keeps within its color scheme. It is a brown egg with golden accents around its size, its shell bumpy and... rocky?

Element? I bet ten bucks that it's Earth, if not, then shoot me in the head and spit on my grave.

-------

But as Meliodas was inspecting the egg further for his entry. the eggs suddenly stopped absorbing elemental energy.

"Shi-"

The next moment, a golden and white aura enveloped the eggs, and a violent burst of energy flowed out of them both in one go.

*BOOM!!!*

*WOOSH!!!*

Meliodas, who was point-blank within the burst's range, was jerked back violently, causing him to tumble on the floor for a few moments before catching himself by planting his feet on the floor with a single, swift motion.

Aura spewed and flowed out of the eggs for a few more seconds until it finally stopped, and the egg's glow disappeared.

Meliodas, seeing that the eggs had calmed down, unburied his feet from the floor and approached the eggs once more.

With more caution in his step this time, of course.

"Shit, what was that?" Meliodas said with a sigh as he poked the eggs with a stick.

"System, do you know what type of eggs these two are?"

[Apologies host, but I do not know, maybe if you USED the systems "Mind's Eye", perhaps you will be able to gain some insight?]

"..." Meliodas didn't like how sassy the system had sounded there, but it was right.

"I can't keep forgetting I have that thing," Meliodas muttered under his breath as he activated [Mind's Eye].

"Dafuk? 124 years old?" Meliodas shouted in surprise.

"Well, maybe it takes that long to absorb the needed elemental energy to hatch?" Meliodas theorized, adding his little theory into his journal.

"Ha! So I was right-" As Meliodas was about to praise himself for making the right guess, some information caught his eye.

"Dragon Element? That sounds familiar..." He said, trying to remember where he had heard that term before.

But sadly, he wasn't able to remember. Deciding to push that thought to the back of his mind, he once again focused on the eggs.

"...Fuck it"

Grabbing both eggs, he placed them into his system storage and dipped out of there. Meliodas didn't know if there was a mama or papa dragon around, but he wasn't keen on finding out.
