In the Dragon Clan Cemetery of the East Sea Dragon Nest
The pressure emanating from the Dragon Clan spirits could only be described as a strong sense of oppression to Chris, but to Garchomp, it felt like an impossibly high mountain standing in its path.
The weight was overwhelming!
However, this wasn't a physical heaviness, but rather an immense burden on Garchomp's aura and spirit. As a result, in everyone's eyes, Mega Garchomp appeared to be stuck in thick mud, struggling desperately to move forward.
Mega Garchomp trudged forward with great difficulty, one agonizing step at a time.
It had already covered about one-third of the distance, yet the path ahead was becoming increasingly difficult with each step taken.
Because Chris had initiated the Mega Evolution, he could fully understand the tremendous difficulty Mega Garchomp was experiencing.
Chris decided to test something and sent out his Salamence, also triggering its Mega Evolution.
He discovered that the Dragon Clan Cemetery did indeed exert a targeted sense of oppression against Dragon-type Pokémon, but the pressure directed at Mega Salamence wasn't nearly as intense as what Mega Garchomp faced.
If the pressure against Mega Garchomp was ten times the normal intensity, then the pressure against Mega Salamence was only about three times at most.
Chris suddenly understood why the crown symbolizing the title of "king" had been placed in the Dragon Clan Cemetery for so long without being claimed by any other Garchomp.
"This is incredibly difficult!" Chris couldn't help but complain aloud.
However, Chris soon noticed something remarkable. Under the relentless pressure of this draconic aura, Mega Garchomp's mental fortitude was growing stronger and stronger, and the Dragon-type aura surrounding its body was becoming increasingly fierce and powerful.
It appeared that this oppressive Dragon aura wasn't merely a test—it was also a form of intensive training.
If Mega Garchomp could successfully reach the crown that symbolized kingship, then even if it didn't obtain the crown itself, the rigorous training it experienced would be enough to significantly advance its overall strength.
Chris had originally considered having Gardevoir use Teleport to cheat the system and transport Mega Garchomp directly to claim the crown. However, after discovering the substantial benefits of this intensive training, Chris abandoned that idea entirely.
"Let it temper itself here properly," Chris decided with conviction.
With that settled, Chris retrieved his "Treasure Scanner" from his bag.
"Don't let me down!" he muttered hopefully.
"Buzz!" The moment the Treasure Scanner was activated, the device's indicator immediately pointed firmly toward a specific location.
Chris's eyebrows rose with interest.
Well, well!
This was definitely detecting something at the secret treasure level or higher!
"What's that device in your hand?" Professor Vladimir asked with curiosity.
"It's just a treasure hunting instrument," Chris replied casually while looking in the direction the scanner was indicating.
Unfortunately, it was pointing in the same direction as the crown.
"Is the Treasure Scanner pointing at the Garchomp clan's crown?" Chris wondered aloud. If that were the case, it would be somewhat meaningless. He might have to wait until Mega Garchomp absorbed the crown's power before conducting another scan.
While pondering this, Chris and Gardevoir had already begun walking toward the center.
The oppressive Dragon-type aura pressure was blocked by Gardevoir's psychic barrier, having almost no effect on Chris whatsoever.
Garchomp's mother standing nearby didn't attempt to stop Chris from approaching.
When Chris finally reached the skeleton of the previous Garchomp King, he held the Treasure Scanner toward the crown.
However, he quickly discovered that the scanner wasn't actually pointing at the Garchomp clan's crown at all—it was indicating something beneath the skeleton of the Garchomp King itself. This meant there was something valuable hidden underneath those ancient bones!
"Gardevoir, Mega Evolve, then use Psychic to carefully search below. If you locate the object, extract it, but make sure not to damage any of the surrounding skeletal remains," Chris instructed.
Gardevoir pressed its hands together as brilliant, colorful light enveloped its body. It transformed into its elegant Mega form, its dress-like appearance resembling a wedding gown. It landed gracefully as lavender psychic energy slowly spread outward from its body.
Before long, the target item was locked onto.
A green and black dragon scale flew out from beneath the Garchomp King's skeleton, guided by Psychic power directly into Chris's waiting hand.
Chris immediately activated his Pokédex to examine its properties.
Divine Treasure: Dragon King's Outrage - Increases the power of Dragon-type moves by 100%, increases the power of Ground-type moves by 50%, increases the power of Flying-type moves by 50%, and enhances weather control abilities by 50%.
When using the move Outrage, the user will no longer fall into a confused state afterward.
"This must have been the sacred treasure of the Garchomp King," Chris concluded.
However, Chris felt somewhat puzzled by the specific attributes attached to this divine treasure.
He could easily understand the increased power for Dragon-type and Ground-type moves, but he couldn't quite grasp why it would boost Flying-type move power and weather control abilities.
Combined with the "Crackling Dragon Fang" he'd learned about earlier, Chris couldn't help but form a theory.
"Is it possible that the former Garchomp King was exceptionally skilled at weather manipulation and Flying-type techniques as well?"
"That seems likely," he mused.
Fortunately, although his own Garchomp wasn't specifically trained in weather control, when combined with Tyranitar's Sand Stream ability that automatically triggered Sandstorm weather upon entry, the two of them could form the perfect core of a powerful Sandstorm team strategy.
As for this "Divine Treasure: Dragon King's Outrage," Chris decided to use it as one of the primary materials when crafting a custom divine treasure specifically for his Garchomp.
As for obtaining other necessary materials, that would depend on whether other legendary Pokémon could provide them in the future.
After securing the Divine Treasure: Dragon King's Outrage, Chris was about to return and wait for his Mega Garchomp to complete its intensive training and claim the throne of king. Suddenly, he heard a faint tremor coming from the soil beneath the Dragon King's skeleton. This occurred because Gardevoir was still actively using Psychic to excavate and search for additional items.
"There's something else down there?"
After several moments, a peculiar item was extracted from the soil beneath the Dragon King's skeleton.
It had a pink-colored main body with two wing-like structures that fit together—it was clearly a flute!
"This object..." Chris felt an immediate sense of familiarity wash over him.
This item was obviously the same type of artifact as the "Rock Horn" he had obtained in the "Onix Graveyard" and the "Grass Horn" he'd acquired in the Aura Secret Realm where Mew resided.
Chris quickly reached out to take hold of the mysterious treasure, and its attributes immediately displayed before his eyes.
Sky Flute: All stats of the attached Flying-type Pokémon are increased by 25%. When played, the damage of the attached Pokémon's next Flying-type move is increased by 50%. If used to play a special melody, it may summon a terrifying legendary existence.
As expected, the attribute description was virtually identical to both the "Rock Horn" and the "Grass Horn."
The only difference was that the type-specific attributes had changed from Rock-type and Grass-type to Flying-type instead.
Similarly, playing a certain special melody could potentially summon a terrifying legendary presence. There were numerous god-level powerhouses among Flying-type Pokémon, so Chris genuinely wasn't certain which legendary being this flute might call forth.
However, there was absolutely no doubt about the value of the Sky Flute's attributes. Chris had quite a few powerful Flying-type Pokémon in his collection, and this item's appearance would significantly enhance his overall team strength.
Compared to witnessing Garchomp claim its throne and obtaining the Dragon King's Outrage, discovering this Sky Flute might actually be the greatest reward of this entire journey.
