" I…really have things to do, Alex," Avery said. She tilted her head to the other side giving him enough access.
They got startled when the door opened harshly. Dave halted, and before clearing his throat.
"I'm sorry to disturb, sir but something is wrong," he said adjusting his glasses.
Avery stood up from his lap, and she combed her hair with her fingers. Dave walked towards Alex as he handed him the iPad.
" What is this. And why is it circulating in the company's platform?" Alex snapped.
Avery knitted her brows together. What was wrong? She peeped her head and watched the video and the news. A scoff came out of her mouth. With her arms folded she said;
"These are the top-notch employees Gibson Company has. I should have hit her when I had the chance."
Alex turned his gaze to her;
" What happened?"
" Why are you questioning me? I did nothing wrong? She attacked me first and I retaliated. Birds of the same feathers. No wonder she is friends with Veronica."
Alex massaged his temples, but it didn't go unnoticed by Avery. A pang of hurt spread in her chest. What was the meaning of that? Does that mean she was looking for trouble and he was siding with them?
She raised her chin and said;
" I shouldn't have come here in the first place. I was wrong. I would head out now." her voice trembled as the words left her mouth.
Before she could take a step away from Alex, her wrist was held.
" Avery? I'm not blaming you for what is going on. I just wanted to hear your side of the story baby. "
Dave widened his eyes. Did his boss call her a baby? What was going on between them? He had a clue something crazy had happened in Spain but this?
Avery blinked the tears which threatened to fall out. She cleared her throat and pulled her wrist away.
" Nothing happened. I insulted her and she did the same. Happy now? I need to go."
Her scent lingered in the office as the door was closed behind her.
" Fire that useless employee and find out who spread this trash. How dare they call my wife a gold digger?"
" W-wife? Miss Avery is your wife? How? When?" Dave stammered.
" What do you mean? Do what you have to do and stop asking me questions. "
Alex brought out his phone from his desk and made a call; within two rings the other person answered.
" What do you want?" Sam asked
"Let's hang out," Alex said with a sigh.
" Why? I have to spend more time with Suzzy. "
" Just come and hang out with me." Alex bellowed.
" Whatever. I'm calling Black Eagle to join."
