Her head turned sideways as Jolly slapped her.
"Who told you to talk to that bitch? Huh?" Jolly bellowed
Her hand covered her stinging face.
"Avery is not a bitch, Mom. Avery is the wife of Alex, your nephew."
"SHUT UP!" Max exclaimed
He coiled the rope in his hand before he strangled it around Esmeralda's neck. Esmeralda tried to free herself but that only infuriated Max. Jolly scoffed and made herself sit on the bed. Her face turned red, and her breathing was shallow. Her head felt lightheaded; however, she refused to beg. This wasn't the first time both mother and son had tried to bully her. This was the bare minimum for her. Max tied her to a dresser in the room.
"This will teach you a lesson, slut."
A punch landed on her face. Attempting to hit her again, a knock came from the door. The room became tense. Jolly signalled Max to untie Esmeralda and open the door. He groaned at his mother but did so.
Max walked towards the door, and it cracked open.
"Ava. I knew you would consider what I said earlier. I believe you're here to share a room with me?" Max exclaimed.
Avery frowned. "It's Avery. I'm here for Esmeralda."
Max cleared his throat, his hand tightened around the doorknob.
"She is not here."
Avery raised a brow at him.
"I spoke to her not long. And I have searched the Manor for her."
Jolly came out of the room, her arms crossed.
"She isn't here, girl."
Avery pursed her lips and nodded. She doesn't trust them, but she left them alone.

Avery snuggled comfortably in her bed. She made a call to her friends, which ended up on a video call.
"Rica, are you there?" Avery asked
"Yes. Why the sudden call?"
Avery laughed.
"Alex and I have planned to go on a trip. You in?
Erica stood up from her desk.
"Hell yeah! I'm game. By the way, where is Suzzy?"
"Over here," Suzzy said
Erica scrutinised the background of Suzzy.
"Are you in a man's room?" Erica asked.
Suzzy's face flushed. She couldn't hide anything from this bitches. Before she could get the word out, Avery beat her to it.
"HOLY SHIT!! Did you get laid? Please say yes."
Suzzy cleared her throat and answered.
"Yea?"
"What do you mean, yeah? Is it a yes or no? And is it Samuel or another guy?
Avery scoffed at Erica's question.
"We both know it's Samule. Who else will Suzzy get laid with?"
Suzzy rolled her eyes at them.
"So why the sudden video call?" She asked changing the question.
"Our girl here has planned a trip with her husband, and she is inviting us."
"Wait! Avery is cool with Alex now?" Suzzy asked
" Yes, people, I'm cool with Alex now. Are you guys coming or what?"
They agreed to the trip and planned the date together. After that, they spoke about everything before ending the call.
