- Alex's Mansion
Avery and Alex had moved into his mansion after Aurora woke up. She still needed someone around to care for her, and Avery refused to trust that responsibility to anyone else.
Both mother and daughter sat on the fluffy sofa, laughing and talking.
Ever since Aurora fell into a coma, Avery had carried a sadness she couldn't shake. But now, with her mother beside her again, that sadness was slowly being replaced by happiness.
Upstairs, Alex sat in his study, dealing with the Edison family.
"Transfer everything into Avery's account," Alex ordered.
"Yes, sir. We also recorded Albert's conversation with a woman. I'll send it to you."
Alex hummed, uninterested.
He ended the call and leaned back in his chair, his eyes falling on the picture of Avery sitting on his desk.
His expression softened.
"I'll make them pay, babe. For everything they've put you through. You and your mother."
His fingers brushed against the edge of the photograph.
"I'll make it up to you. Everything I've put you through. The physical pain, the emotional pain... all of it. I'm going to make things right."
His gaze lingered on Avert's smile.
A thought came to mind.
Their wedding.
Alex reached for his phone and called the wedding planner.
"Send me twenty of your best wedding venues. I want them before the end of the day." -
A maid rushed towards Avery and whispered something in her ear. Avery frowned and looked at her.
She got up and smiled at her mother.
"I'd be back, Mom. Someone is at the door"
Aurora nodded at her.
Avery turned to the maid. She led her towards the front door.
"What did you say his name was?"
"He said, Damien, ma'am."
Before reaching the front door, Avery spotted the silhouette of an older man.
The maid opened the front door.
In front of her stood a man in his late fifties, in a navy-green tailored suit. His hair was combed back, and he had a walking stick in hand.
"You must be Damien," Avery said.
Damien turned to her.
With a wide smile, he answered with a nod.
"Can I know wha y-"
"Damien?"
Both Avery and Damien turned to the voice.
Aurora stood there with a pale expression and her hands clasped to her mouth.
Avery's brows furrowed.
"You know him?"
