Chapter 11 - The Fire That Burned for Her

Leon's blood surged in a fierce blood-hurst, rage blazing like fire through his veins. The demeaning manner they spoke about her made his blood run cold...cold with a desire to do grievous harm.

Was it the mocking laughter of the unknown caller, or the thugs' cruel satisfaction as they bragged about a "job well done" before driving off? He couldn't tell which ignited his fury more.

He wanted to beat them to a pulp with the very hands they'd used to chase her, to smash the backs of their heads with their own guns, to strike them with their weapons, to make them taste the same fear and pain she had faced. He wanted to bruise them until they begged for mercy, to fire bullets into their legs so they would know a torment worse than death, leaving no doubt that they had crossed the line.

Let them struggle for their lives the way they had made his pretty damsel struggle.

He wanted them to learn, permanently and horribly, that women were not prey that there would be grave consequences for anyone who treated them as such. He wanted every one of them to remember the lesson.

So that next time, they would treat women with respect and not resort to thug‑work, no matter what life throws at them.

But before he could move, dainty fingers wrapped tightly around his arm.

Small, yet firm, anchoring him in place.

As her touch lingered, her grip held him in place, her presence alone pulled him back from the edge, then the call ended, her grip loosened, slowly leaving his arm.The chaos inside him slowly began to quiet, as the roar of engines faded into the distance. Only then, when the birds resumed their chirping and the peaceful atmosphere returned.

One truth struck him hard, she was starting to mean something to him.

Something he hadn't felt in years… maybe ever.

Every tear she shed twisted his heart.

Every smile she gave set it racing.

And every bruise on her skin filled him with a rage he could barely contain.

He didn't understand it.

He just knew he couldn't bear to see her hurt.it bothered him when she was hurt.it tore at him when he saw tears gather in her eyes, when they slid down her cheeks, each time, his chest burned with a sharp pain that made him wipe them away himself, because he couldn't stand the sight of her crying and when she smiled or blushed, his heart leapt uncontrollably!! she was just too cute!!

when she'd fallen with him off the cliff, refusing to let go even as danger surrounded them, something inside him shattered.

She didn't want him harmed by the thugs, even when there's a possibility of him taking them down, whether they were armed with different kinds gunsi.e rifle, sniper rifle and other weaponry.

He was too certain he would excape their torture but glad she's in a safe place.

She had shielded him with her hands when his shirt got caught on a branch and tore, her arms scarping in the process, not wanting him to be hurt and continue enduring the pain with other bruises on him.

It pained him to see scratches on her skin due to protecting him, every mark on her body ignited a storm of fury in his chest, that was why his blood surged with violent anger the moment those thugs reported to their caller, yet she held him back, tightly, refusing to let go,her trembling hands clinging tightened to his arm in fear, afraid they might shoot or kill him.

All these things she did..melted him.

Her courage scared him, because he wanted her safe even if it meant getting hurt himself, not hurting herself to protect him in return, that's why immediately they reached safer ground, the first thing he did was check her, carefully, inch by inch to make sure she wasn't badly hurt.

why did it feel like something stronger than care?

As they stood, her head lowered, biting her lips, the same nervous habit he'd come to recognize whenever she's nervous and scared.

"They wanted to kill you," leon muttered slowly, dragging each syllable like a curse. His voice trembled, eyes glistening with unshed tears "fuck! fuck! damn it!" he punched the air continuously, his chest heaving, fury scorching his veins, angry he didn't tear them off for first thinking they could kill anyone based on orders but must sexually assault the lady first.

He recalled, the memory of her scream echoed in his head, when he wanted to zoom off in his car, thinking it was his imagination. He clenched his fists until his knuckles whitened, then punctuating each words slowly as the pain in his heart increased.

"if i hadn't been here…" his voice broke. his shoulders shook with sorrow, whispering hoarsely "They would have defiled you" Repeating the sentence again,as his eyes reddened, blood thumping in his chest as though wanting to break free.

"They would have defiled you".

His hands tightened in a fist, harder, His mind painting the images on his head which left him gasping for breath

"and fucking killed you!".

He raked a hand through his tousled hair in annoyance, his face darkening,a deadly glint apparent in his reddned eyes, voice low and deadly "'ll be damned if i don't find every single soul who had a hand in this." His silvery eyes turned cold, devoid of warmth. "They'll regret ever thinking of hurting you." a tight lipped smile, fixated on his face, his fists still clenched, signaling all his words and actions were filled with a deadly promise.

Celina moved closer, her steps small but sure, pausing when she got closer, gently placing her soft palms over his clenched fists, tilting her face up,a meter apart from his face, until their gazes locked.

"It's okay," she whispered, her voice trembling. Tears slid down her cheeks,as she held his face in her hands "As long as you're not hurt… as long as I'm not hurt, it's okay."

He trembled, moving slightly, lowering his head, until his cold face rested against her shoulder.

Celina gasped softly, when he took a long intake of her flowery scent, breathing heavily on her shoulder but she held him tight, her arms encircling him. His nose brushing against her neck, her scent resonating in his senses, intoxicating himself with her immesurably warm body, trying to calm his raging pulse.

Her warmth wrapped around him like a balm to his wounds.

"You're with.."then removing his face from her neck, noticing it immediately.

Then he froze.

Recalling the thugs were with her boots, then, stressing each syllable from his mouth. "You're without your boots…" he said slowly, the calmness in his voice fading instantly. As Celina noticed his eyes darkened again, his eyes reddened more than before and there was this dangerous glint flashing in them as Celina shivered.

His face wore a cold expression, fists shaking as though wanting to clenche in a fist and throw the best of punches.

Shivers like millions of pulses, ran through Celina spine. He was really scary when he's angry. 'Was he angry at her? '. She panicked, her body trembling slightly. But before she could speak, he cupped her face gently in his palms, drawing his face closer to hers, forcing her to meet his gaze..eye to eye.

"The cliff's edge and downwards of the cliff. isn't safe," he whispered, voice thick with emotion, negative images ran in his head at what could happen to her damaged foot. "Imagine how sore your feet would be?" Sighing deeply as his body shook, the feeling vibrated in his body. " your arms..the ones that protected my back..when my shirt tore" His words trailed off as tears clouded his eyes. The pain seared his heart again, becoming unbearable, rushing like electric from his brain to his toes. His knees weakened, and he dropped to the ground, a tear sliding down his cheek.

He took her palms in his strong hands, their fingers intertwining as he stared at her. His face bleak and raw with emotions, Celina eyes softened, tears sliding down her cheeks, too scared at his actions and the pain that overwhelmed him.

She wanted to drive this pain away.

"I didn't really protect you," stuttering on his words, his voice laced with pain,on each word from his mouth. "You have slight bruises on your neck, scratches… on your arms"breathing rapidly, while he disentangled his fingers from hers at the same time gripping his tousled hair, he hissed in frustration. "I feel pain here." He guided her hand to the inside of his shirt, as her dainty fingers trailed on his chest and stopped right over his heart, its frantic beats hammering against her palm. Celina's own tears flowed freely as she watched him battle emotions, and this was because of her.

Her hands instinctively covered his, seeing him in pain brought her pain too.

Then he continued, breath unsteady and his voice breaking.

"I'm going to protect you more, love!" He growled lowly, The fire In His Veins burning hotly, " I can't hurt you. I'll never hurt you. So don't cover your face like you think I'd hit you…" then adding breathlessly, due to the whole emotions that shook his body. " I was just checking if you were hurt. I'm sorry." His body trembled under the weight of guilt.

Still kneeling together,Celina hugged him tightly. "Thank you for protecting me… you protected me till the end." stuttering as she spoke each word, each filled With overwhelming gratitude and happiness as dried tears combined with fresh tears slid down her cheeks.

He wiped her tears away with his thumb, holding her face beneath her hoodie.

"No one's ever done that for me," she whispered, her voice shaking as her emotions hightened "I just didn't want you to get hurt. That's why I covered your back with my arms. I want yo..you safe".

Tears constricting her throat, trying to clear her throat as tears continuously slid down her cheeks,as he wiped them with his thumb "I Know.I know you wouldn't hurt me, sorry for cringing in fear,by trying to block you as though you wanted to harm me.. when you are my knight in shining armor". Drawing the last word filled with deep-rooted assurance.

Then finally, Her eyes locked on his. "I know you wouldn't hurt me. I'm sorry for flinching. I just…" she took a breath, "I know you wouldn't hurt me."

Her words seared deep in his heart. He hugged her again, tighter this time, which melted their pains, worries and fears. Just two broken souls finding peace in each other's arms.

Then, after a long pause, he whispered, voice gravelly low, "Lay on my back.",then disentangled himself from their hug.

She blinked, startled at his words and how hot it made her feel, her cheeks burning crimson red.

"I–no… you're hurt. I can walk." before she could continue her remaining sentence.

He withheld her from speaking further "Shhhhhhh"..hushing her and placing a finger on her lips.

"I want to carry you," he said softly, blinking his silver-blue eyes like a child. "Please." He added placing emphasis on the last word.

Celina's blush deepened. Her heart raced. The way he said it like a child, making cute expressions on his handsome face, 'He was too cute in my opinion',she blushed again, smile playing on her lips. He was so firm yet endearing.

He continued gazing at her tenderly, waiting for her to concur on his wishes as the blush spread on her cheeks, turning full crimson red.

"You're too cute when you blush," he teased, his low chuckle vibrating through the air. Then his eyes darken dangerously, "I can hardly control myself." Leon drawled, his voice gravely low and sensual which made her knees grow weak, sent her pulse racing, yet her heart craved more of him.

As he turned, she wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her body against his back. Both of their bodies reacting to each other in that spot her blushing face on his back, arms on his neck also he was fucking carrying A WOMAN!! Not Just Any Woman..but the one that AFFECTED HIM TO THE CORE. Their chemistry was ran through them burning and undeniable, electrifying their bodies.

Leon smiled faintly. 'This woman will be the death of me one day,' he muttered under his breath, trying to control his emotions,as he stood up, carrying her at his back.

But when she pressed her cheek to his neck and he froze again. He felt his neck grew hot,the moment she pressed her reddened cheeks on his neck, her warmth and scent dizzying his senses. He took a deep breath again, steadying himself.

"You're so light," he murmured. "Feels like I'm not carrying a chubby princess."

She giggled, her blush deepening.

He smiled happily,Leon's heart thumped hard as her reddened cheeks pressed against his neck, breathing deeply again to control his emotions.

'God help me!!' He muttered again.

He has been taking calming breaths ever since he met her.

She was incredibly beautiful,a her curves in the right places, her character, utterly everything about her.

Her trust, her nearness..It undid him completely, made him feel possessive of her as she clung on his back tightly, trusting he would do all he can to protect her and HE ACTUALLY DID!!

"From here, we can reach the main road," he said softly, his voice filled with promise. "We'll be free from danger soon, love…" Each word filled with a deep promise I'll protect you. Love. Always."

Celina laid her head on his shoulder, tears welling up againnot from fear, but from warmth. The way he said love, the way he meant it, even through his actions since. It melted her heart completely. It made her blush deeply, heating her red cheeks on his neck as tears welled up in her eyes,He was just too much, inhaling his manly scent of sandalwood and brownies did alot to her senses over and over again.

"If you keep blushing like that," Leon murmured with a deep, sensual laugh, making her feel hot all over "I might not know what to do next…" Leon paused, allowing his words to sink in, "except what's on my mind."

Celina's face flamed as she laughed shyly, her voice like soft sweet tune, sweet music in his ears.

Leon smiled too, his teeth flashing..His was heart calmer now, but utterly hers.
