Liu Fengsheng remembered the first time he saw Fang Pingying, she was setting up a small stall in town to sell pastries for a living and had gotten into an argument with a sales clerk at the credit cooperative over the clerk's attitude.

At the time, she made a very deep impression on him; he rarely saw a typical rural woman argue with a credit cooperative's clerk on such firm ground.

In that small town, most of the people were not highly educated, and many envied the clerks' jobs at the credit cooperative. No matter how poor their attitude was, the townsfolk had grown accustomed to it, almost feeling as if it was expected. Otherwise, these clerks wouldn't have developed such bad habits.

Most people, even if they knew the clerks' attitudes were poor and their actions wrong, would either just endure it or get into a fistfight. Rarely did anyone handle situations like she did.
