She wasn't stupid, and because she was puzzled as to why Mrs. Liu brought her to a stranger's house, she'd been paying close attention to the conversation between Mrs. Liu and Fang Pingying.
From those few words and Mrs. Liu's rather cautious attitude towards Fang Pingying, she basically understood why Mrs. Liu brought her here.
To be honest, though she had always been somewhat of a joke in the Liu family because of a disappointing son, and had been to borrow money more than a few times, being scolded by Mrs. Liu was not a once or twice thing. Perhaps she was used to it, enduring the shame as it came and went.
But now, being asked to kneel to a stranger, or doing so without even understanding why, felt humiliating to her. She was human too; she had her dignity and thought it would be best to leave the place when the opportunity arose.
But before she could finish speaking, Mrs. Liu sternly interjected, "She will stay."
