Ran Yan spoke the truth, yet to Xiao Xuanzhi, they seemed like merely unconvincing words of comfort. "Thank you, Ninth Sister-in-law."
The door creaked open, and the Maid supported Lady Dongyang as she walked out. With sweaty wisps of hair at her temples and a pale face, she appeared even more gaunt.
"I heard from the Maid that Great Aunt suddenly fell ill; how is she now?" asked Ran Yan.
Lady Dongyang's clear gaze lingered on her face for a moment as if trying to discern something, but Ran Yan's expression was always devoid of any emotions, not even subtle ones. Lady Dongyang retracted her gaze, "Thank you for your concern, it's nothing serious."
"Why haven't you left yet?" Lady Dongyang looked at Xiao Xuanzhi with a slight frown, finally showing a hint of emotional fluctuation.
Xiao Xuanzhi replied, "I'm worried about you."
Lady Dongyang's expression was indifferent as she turned to bid farewell to Ran Yan.
