The next day, early in the morning at 4 a.m., Xia Xiao got out of bed to prepare breakfast.
Despite still feeling a bit sore, she got up quietly, careful not to wake Gao Jiaxing, and upon leaving the room, she entered her space to drink some spring water before returning to cook breakfast.
In the room, Gao Jiaxing turned over, reaching out his hand and found it empty. He immediately sat up and called out, "Xiaoxiao."
Gao Jiaxing quickly got out of bed and headed outside, seeing light in the kitchen, he exhaled softly and walked over.
"Why are you up?" Gao Jiaxing asked.
"I'm making breakfast," replied Xia Xiao. "Brother Gao, you should go back to sleep."
"I can't sleep anymore now that you're up," Gao Jiaxing said, squatting down beside the stove to tend the fire.
Xia Xiao poured a warm glass of water for Gao Jiaxing, "Have some water."
Gao Jiaxing took it, nodding his head. He suddenly felt thirsty too, so he poured himself another bowl of water to drink.
