Chapter 256 - A Glimpse

Elena's POV

I had been trying to shake off the heaviness in my chest ever since I saw that damn image—the one of Damon surrounded by those women. I tried telling myself that it didn't mean anything. It wasn't real. It couldn't be.

And then, of course, Damon had rushed in, all concerned, trying to reassure me. His touch, so warm, so familiar, was enough to calm me down momentarily. But even as I tried to push my fears aside, something inside me couldn't shake the image from my mind.

Despite everything, I loved him. My mate. I had to trust him. I wasn't about to let some anonymous stranger's twisted games destroy what we had built together.

I knew better than to believe in assumptions and half‑truths. We'd overcome so many obstacles—wars, betrayals, and our own personal demons. Why would I let something so small—so fleeting—break us? I wasn't that weak.
