In the stands, Gakuganji and Yaga stood side by side, watching their respective students get ready. The silence between them was thick with the tension from the day before.

"Your kids don't exactly look coordinated," Yaga said, a smirk tugging at his lips.

Gakuganji didn't take the bait. "Raw power speaks its own language."

"That what you tell yourself to excuse the chaos?"

"That's what I tell myself to excuse the win."

An assistant approached and bowed. "Directors, everything is ready."

Yaga nodded. "Good. Let's start."

The tournament field was a vast, dense forest dotted with clearings and ravines. Cursed-energy barriers marked the perimeter, making escape impossible. Somewhere in that wilderness were two flags: red for Tokyo, white for Kyoto.

The rules were simple: capture the enemy flag first, or take the entire opposing team out of the fight.

Simple in theory. Deadly in practice.

The teams were teleported to their starting positions, several kilometers of forest apart.

Ryosuke landed lightly on a high branch, scanning the area at once. The forest was thick, almost suffocating.

Todo crashed down a few meters away, the branch cracking under his weight.

"Yosh! Let's go!" He turned to Ryosuke with a feral grin. "We charge straight for their flag and smash everything in our way!"

Before Ryosuke could answer, Todo was already gone, leaping from tree to tree with shocking speed for his size.

Momo appeared beside Ryosuke, riding her broom.

"He's always like that," she sighed.

"I can see."

"You following him?"

Ryosuke watched Todo vanish into the trees. Then his gaze drifted in another direction—quieter, more calculated.

"No. I'm taking a different route."

Momo blinked. "But—"

"Trust me."

Before she could argue, Ryosuke dropped from the branch and melted into the forest shadows, silent as a ghost.

Kamo, Ino, and Nitta reached the rally point a few seconds later.

"Where are Todo and Ryosuke?" Kamo asked, frowning.

Momo pointed in two opposite directions.

"Gone."

Ino let out a long sigh, rubbing his temples.

"Of course. Of course they are."

Nitta adjusted his glasses. "So what do we do?"

Kamo thought for a moment, then decided.

"We protect our flag. If those two fail, we're the last line."

"And if they succeed?" Momo asked.

Kamo gave a small smile. "Then we win without lifting a finger."

On the other side of the forest, Tokyo's team was already moving.

"We split up," Hakari announced. "Kirara and I go for their flag. You four guard ours."

Maki frowned. "Splitting up is risky."

"Maybe." Hakari shot her a look. "But we're not winning by playing it safe."

Panda nodded. "He's right. It splits their forces too."

Yuta stayed quiet, eyes constantly sweeping the surroundings.

"Mentaiko," Toge said softly, pointing in a specific direction.

Yuta followed the gesture.

"Someone's coming."

Hakari grinned. "Perfect. Kirara, with me. You four, hold the fort."

The two second-years vanished into the trees, leaving the first-years alone.

Silence fell.

Then—

A cursed-energy explosion ripped through the air.

Todo had arrived.

"OOOKKKAAYYY! WHO WANTS TO DANCE?!"

He burst from the trees like a cannonball, fists already blazing with cursed energy. His eyes swept over the four Tokyo students.

And he smiled.

"Perfect. Four on one. Almost fair."

Maki reacted first, lunging forward with her spear. "Panda, Toge, with me! Yuta, guard the flag!"

"But—"

"NOW!"

Yuta hesitated for a split second, then nodded and fell back toward their base, where the red flag fluttered between two ancient trees.

Todo laughed as three opponents charged him.

"YEAH! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!"

He slammed a fist into the ground, sending a shockwave that halted Maki's charge dead. Then, with blinding speed, he clapped once.

CLAP

In an instant, Todo and Panda swapped places.

Panda, disoriented, suddenly found himself facing Maki—she barely pulled her spear thrust in time, the tip grazing his furry shoulder.

"Hey! Watch it!"

"Sorry!"

Todo, now behind them, charged.

CLAP CLAP CLAP

Positions swapped again and again, turning everything into chaos. Maki found herself facing Toge, Panda facing Todo, then it all flipped once more.

CLAP

Todo swapped with Panda again, dodging Maki's spear as it whistled through empty air. Panda ended up in the path of the strike, forcing Maki to yank it aside at the last second.

"Damn it!" she spat, frustration clear.

Toge was already positioning himself, taking a deep breath for his cursed speech. His eyes locked on Todo, and—

CLAP

Todo appeared right in front of him, massive fist already swinging. Toge's eyes only had time to widen before the punch slammed into his stomach, driving the air—and the words—from his lungs.

"Too slow!" Todo roared, grinning like a beast.

Toge flew backward, crashing hard against the trunk of a centuries-old tree. He slid to the ground, conscious but out of the fight for now, one hand clutching his bruised gut.

"TOGE!" Maki shouted.

Panda roared, muscles bulging under his fur. He switched to Gorilla mode, his body growing huge, eyes blazing as he charged Todo head-on, abandoning finesse for raw power.

"This time I won't miss!"

Todo cracked his neck, grin widening. "Now we're talking!"

Panda's fist tore through the air with devastating force. Todo blocked with his forearm—the impact sent a shockwave that shook the leaves around them. But he didn't budge an inch.

"Not bad! But—"

Todo vanished, reappearing behind Panda. Before the cursed corpse could react, Todo drove an elbow into the back of his neck, then unloaded a barrage into his kidneys, ribs, spine.

Each blow landed like thunder.

Panda growled in pain, trying to turn and fight back, but Todo was already gone.

He reappeared above Panda, hands clasped together. With a war cry, he brought them down like a piledriver.

BOOOOOM

The ground cracked. Panda crashed into an impromptu crater, body reverting to normal size, limp.

"PANDA!"

Maki was alone now. Her hands trembled slightly on her spear, but her eyes stayed locked and fierce.

Todo turned to her, wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. He sized her up for a second, then shrugged, almost disappointed.

"You've got guts, I'll give you that. But guts aren't enough."

He took one step forward. Then another.

Maki tightened her grip.

Wait for the right moment. One clean hit. That's all I need.
